Good timing on me finding this thread, I just found an old photo album and my Dad snuck a few photos of the Flames at the Corral.
Nearly fell off the chair when I saw these.

Bozek, Hislop, Hindmarch, Tambellini. Some blasts from the past there. Great photos. Great unis on both teams too.

That actually looks like it's the Forum in Los Angeles, not the Corral. The Flames are in their road uniforms and the Kings are in their home. You can see the crowns painted on the ice by the ref.
Also, based on the players in the photo, that had to be taken early in the 1983-84 season. Both Steve Bozek and Paul Baxter are in the photo and 1983-84 was their first season with the Flames.
Jamie Hislop and Dave Hindmarch are also in the photo, and they both suffered career-ending injuries in the 1983-84 season. Hindmarch played his final NHL game on December 16, 1983 in Vancouver.
In fact, that had to have been November 26, 1983 because that was the only game Hindmarch played in Los Angeles that season.

It also says "The Forum" in the circle at centre ice.

Not long.
First, I noticed the writing in the faceoff circle and didn't recall the Corral ever having "The Corral" written in the circle. Then, I looked closer and realized it didn't say "Corral". Also, the Flames always had a big Flaming C at centre ice and not two logos on either side of the red line. Initially, I couldn't figure out which logo it was, but then I noticed the Kings player and it all clicked that the words on the ice were "The Forum" and it was the crown logo.
It also then clicked that it was the early 80s and the red uniforms were worn on the road at that time.
Then, I searched for video for the 1982 Kings to confirm that's what the centre face off circle looked like at the Forum at the time. I searched for 1982 because I figured the best chance to find video from that era was to find something about the Miracle on Manchester. As luck would have it, one of the video results was of Steve Bozek talking about the Miracle on Manchester, so that clued me in that Bozek started his career in LA. So, I checked to see when he joined the Flames.
I also noticed that Hindmarch was in the photo and I remembered his career was cut short due to injury, so I checked to see when he played his last game. Once I saw that he only played 29 games that season, I knew the time frame was very narrow, so I checked the Flames schedule for the first few months of that season and saw that they only played one game in LA prior to Hindmarch's injury.

Holy jumpins there detective getbak. Glad you were on the case. I assumed corral but I don't know why as I knew my Dad took these photos in L.A. on a vacation with my Mom. I need more sleep and less alcohol.

Lisa: No. The defense is wrong!
Vinny: Are you sure?
Lisa: I'm positive.
...
Vinny: I find it hard to believe that this kind of information could be ascertained simply by looking at a picture!
Lisa: Would you like me to explain?
Vinny: I would love to hear this.

Looking at many of these pics made me realize that I’m sure gonna miss Johnny. It’s the end of an era. Here’s to the next chapter in this team’s history.
