It's funny how people only want to go to the playoffs and expect a discount to do so. How about the season tickets holders who are willing to fork out thousands of dollars every season in order to go a playoff game every couple of seasons? I consider them the real fans!

The nice thing is that the unrealistic people are balanced out with those who are happy to pay over face value to only go to the games they want without being forced to go to the Yotes on a Tuesday night. Lol.

The whole city is gonna get paid. A long playoff run will be good for everyone from waitresses to cab drivers, to hotel owners.

How much do you think the Flames make for every home playoff date? $5-6 mill?
Playing at least 8 home games would be some pretty money.

Actually prob more since they don't have to pay the players. $10mil a home game?

It's nowhere near that. If you assume $250 average ticket price that's 5 million in revenue before expenses. Then maybe 1 million in food and fan gear based off of an average of $50 per seat. That's only $6 million in revenue. Then take off the mountain of expenses it takes to run a game. I would guess the actual profit is in the 1-2 milliion range when all is said and done.

You are now able to post your tickets on NHL Ticket Exchange from your Flames Account Manager.

That doesn’t seem to compute well.

If the normal game is, say, half the top line revenue of a playoff game, and we can assume they turn a profit when paying players, then at least half of the playoff revenue would end up being profit.

It's a good time to list. People are in a buying frenzy.
Sold a pair of greens...whoever bought them there paid $660 for the pair.

I think you're making assumptions that are not reality.

HRR is still HRR. The extra games doesn't mean the players don't get paid. They're salary is set for the year and just because they have a contract doesn't mean they actually get all of it. It all comes down to the HRR pot.

But take that out for a minute. I don't think my numbers are far off. The revenue can't sustain the margins you are suggesting.

FWIW according to forbes, the Flames had an operating income of 11.2 million last year.

Obviously its more complicated than this, but they would make roughly $136,500 a regular season game. But that would include some profit sharing and TV deals and what ever else.

Ok. Fair enough. In the simplest terms, let’s assume all else is equal

We know the team turns a profit over the regular season, right?
Assume they break even per game when the gate is X
Assume playoff games have the same cost base as regular season games
Now for the playoffs if the gate is X plus Y, then Y would be profit

Based on minimal ticket price increases people have mentioned, isn’t Y at least 60%?

So if playoff gate is 5 M like you say, incremental profit would be ~1.9

Fair enough

Also there are a lot of Flames seats still available on Ticketmaster, at Face Value, which are much cheaper than the re-selling seats.

211 Row 7 at Face for example right now ...

I asked in another thread, but how bad of an idea is it to buy in the "obstructed view" zones?

I bought PL5, row 9, on the flames attack zone aisle. I'm wondering if I've been able to get out of the camera man being a full block?

I’ve purchase an “obstructed” seat in the dome before and didn’t notice a difference. Not sure about that location specifically though.

Regardless, it’ll be worth it to be in there.

I don't remember it being an issue. But I had a lot of dome beers that night so things are a bit fuzzy on the view.

There usually is a camera man setup dead center up there and its not ideal. Camper on a metal post and spiny chair stool. Row is a ways up so shouldn't be that bad.
