In a heartbeat. Bennett is so overrated. If someone wants to give up a top line player for a third line player, then make it happen.

I'd rather have Hart.

Could have used the Parsons pick on Dube in that hypothetical.
Not that I don't love Parsons. He's the only prospect I had ranked over Kylington and Valimaki last offseason... but man... Carter Hart...

Would you not trade a third line player for a first line player, especially if the lynch pin is that third line player?

Good, then they'll pay out the wazoo with our GM driving up the cost like a smart man. Multiple firsts and one of their top prospects and then after they fall short we swoop in and sign on July 1. One way to decimate your competition in your window.

Based on what was said on HNIC the Sens either need to sign Stone or try and let CGY/WPG/NSH try and get the extension done to push the deal through.
It will be interesting if we hear tomorrow that Treliving has joined the team in Ottawa

Winnipeg is at the top, followed closely by Calgary, with Nashville and Boston on the outside looking in

Step aside, Winnipeg.

You are making your point by being very basic.
The third line player has team control, was highly touted, starting to find an important role on the team, still has offensive upside.
The first line player has an injury history, would cost substantially more than the third line player, and future contract could force other core players out of town

No, Bennett does NOT have offensive upside. Jesus Christ, do people not watch this guy play the game? He doesn’t think the game well, can’t make a pass, doesn’t have a shot, and routinely tries to beat the whole opposition team by himself. He does not have offensive upside.
Sam Bennett is no Mark Stone. Even half of Mark Stone. If you can get a Mark Stone for Sam Bennett, you make that move every day. Mark Stone is a star player, Sam Bennett is a support player. Period.

Well I think if the trade is Bennett for Stone straight up, everybody makes the deal. Bennett, a 1st, one of Kylington, Valimaki or Andersson + would be a huge overpayment imo.

Except it's Bennett, first, Dube (or something).
Which you may believe is good. I'm not so sure

I don't watch Ottawa a lot, but I've watched them quite a bit. I find Stone pretty one dimensional TBH. I still think he would be a great addition though, if the price is right.

Bennett is a useful third liner, who plays a tough game, puts up 35 points and will come in under 3M per year, there aren't a lot of players like him. He's not untouchable but you don't move him if you don't have too. He's a useful player.

Again it is not one for one. It is likely Bennett, Dube, 2 1st for a player that we need to find 8-10M cap space for.
You know who else was what he was? Lindholm. Came fans told us all summer that this 23 going to be 24 year old was what he was. Decent 2 way player with a real muffin shot. Somehow some way at the old age of 23 he was able to improve. Shockingly Gaudreau at 25, Monahan at 24 are getting better. Backlund was barely a NHL player at 22 now he is a legit 2nd line center. Backlund is a funny example because he are turning into the “Where R U Chris O’Sulliva” for Bennett.
