Hobbs & Shaw was a big success -- a little soft on the domestic gross but made huge bank on the worldwide.

Joker brought in 13.3 mill from Thursday previews which broke the October record set by Venom which was 10. Off to a great start, it may not hit the $300m I thought but I still think it hits well over $200m which is fantastic for a film with a $50m budget. It's also doing very well in the international markets but it's still unlikely to get a China release.
For DC comparison sake, it also beat Justice League and Wonder Woman which took in $13m and $11m from the Thursday preview.

After seeing Joker, there's zero chance that it gets a Chinese release. I'm guessing any movie showing rioting is banned.
This will hurt it's not office by about $100 mil.

$250 is definitely not out of the question.

Definitely performing above expectations. I think the late controversy helped it more than anything.

Absolutely agree, and the great word of mouth! The film dropped only 60% on Monday and brought in $9.7mill. Here are some recent Monday drops:
60% Joker
61% Gravity
68% The Martian
69% It
71% The Nun
71% Kingsman 2
71% Halloween
73% It: Chapter 2

40% second weekend drop for a comic book movie in October is amazing.
I will concede, you were on to something with this one Nadal. I didn't think it had a chance to sniff $300M.

Lol. This board owes you an apology.
Could definitely do 300 at this point, it should get a sight Oscar buzz bump too.

Surely Will Smith is over at this point right? How many more L's is he going to take?

I thought $300 million was a total fantasy. Whether it makes it or not, Nadal Fan you made a good call.
Nice.

I guess even a broken clock is right twice a day. I just saw the online buzz about the film and it reminded me of the first IT, plus Joker is one of the most iconic villains of all time. The controversy certainly helped the film gain more attention as well .

I think dropping Joker at TIFF was the perfect play. Get critics buzzing about it, get good reviews from festival goers and all of a sudden it's a hit in waiting without much overall marketing.

I was reading on reddit that if Joker passes dead pool 2 this year will have had the highest grossing world wide G, PG, PG-13 and R movies in Toy Story, Lion King, End Game and Joker.
Pretty good year amongst the numerous bombs.

Joker's international box office is starting to pick up. It's guaranteed to pass Deadpool 2 now with 737 million so far.
Should be close to $275 million domestically by the end of next week.

Joker now at $850 mill, does it have enough legs to pass a bill world wide?
If End Game didn't break the all time record, this would have been the box office story of the year.

Terminator with a $10m Friday, might not even crack $30m for the weekend. Can we just bury this franchise already?
