Fun period partly because it's been a bit sloppy.

A total of three players can score that goal in the NHL; therefore it's impossible to defend. Its a tough goal, but hard to blame Ritter given the sniper.
For those wondering, Johnny, Kane and Crosby score those goals.

Tkachuk can score it. I know because he has.
That said, it's true that on the exact same goal, with the same score, Smith would get roasted for it.

You cover any short side shot when that’s all the shooter has

Excellent road period by the Flames. Unlucky to be tied, as they were the better team. If the Flames keep up this effort, they'll be in good shape.

He struggled last game with it, too.

Unless your shoulder is post height there is a small space.

enough about Smith...over the last year he ranks 48 out of 50 goalies that have played 25+ and one of the two he is better than was literally on drugs
Smith deserves all the roasting he gets

If it’s a Cm up, it doesn’t hit Rittich at all, if it’s a cm down, there’s no room between the shoulder and the post. The window for that puck to go in is VERY tiny.

I was just thinking earlier about how much we used to hear about broadcasters from each team meeting with each other in the afternoon and going over stuff like how to properly pronounce names. Does that not happen anymore? I get that especially in hockey we have some euro names that are hard to pronounce for people not from those areas but it sure doesn't seem like the effort is there as much anymore.

I don’t fault Rittich there really. Just a snipe.
