As one would predict, the Flames depth eats the Oilers depth alive, even with a partial lineup. McDavid with possession of the puck in the offensive zone the only time the Oilers are dangerous.
Hopefully all-star Ty can save them.

I thought the Flames D had really active sticks around their own blue line. Lots of poke checks as the Oilers tried to enter the zone.

It should help the PP percentage when they don't have to spend the first 30 seconds of each one chasing the puck back into their own zone.

It’s nice to see a preseason game where you don’t have to tell yourself “Don’t worry, they’ll come together when the season starts.”
If the point was to get guys clicking early this year, then things are looking very good for game one.

I always thought that Gulutzan and Cameron were just killing the energy of this team.

Even when he's on the ice, they haven't looked very good. Outside of that opening PP goal, he was completely invisible in that period.

Gio-Andersson is a really good looking pairing.

Yeah He had one other good play from what I remember but the rest of the time was just chasing like the rest of his team

Good first period but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Oilers are without Rattie. That’s like taking Gaudreau out of our lineup.

Easy. You don’t win the cup by playing AHL rosters.

I can understand why the Oilers aren't taking this one seriously, being without superstar forward Ty Rattie.

He is probably telling the oilers players between periods to keep doing what that they are doing!
