I want Tree to hand Iggy a #12 jersey and say, “You might as well take this home, since it’s never gonna be worn by anyone else in this organization ever again.”

One of, if not, the best to put on Flames silks. Loved his game and passion for the game. I wish we could have seen him once more in Flames silks and was all for him coming back last season. I think he would have contributed just as much if not more then Jagr.
Loved that I got to see him absolutely dominate from the time he came into the league till his last year with the flames. It was a joy and privilege to have such an ambassador of the game play for us and for so long!!
I'll never forget my first ever time going to a Flames game; a young Jarome Iginla was emerging as one of the team's brightest stars. Fast forward to 2004 where he was beyond awesome and deserved to hoist the cup. Thanks for everything Iggy! My only wish is that you could have had a truly elite center to play with during your years here.
I think its settled, now that he is back with the organization you Forever a Flame #12, perhaps against Colorado,
Then later you retire the 11th and final #12
If the guy wants to split time between Boston and Kelowna good on him, just twist his arm to show up for the golf & poker events. But leave him out of management, this isn't Edmonton. Conroy is special, because you have that guy to buddy up to the players when you need to get a pen in there hand, and he is perfect for that. Gelinas seems to be working towards a real coaching career. But we don't need tokenism

Hathaway's arbitration hearing is scheduled for Monday, so Treliving won't likely be at Iggy's press conference. He'll probably leave his Assistant GM behind to represent management.

They say that you should never meet your heroes.. Jarome Iginla was the exception. I'm so glad I've had the opportunity to meet him off the ice. You could tell that he was authentic and wasn't doing this just because he was told to. Incredible player on the ice, and an even better person off the ice. I really wish I could have seen him hoist a cup.
Fan 960 must have been reading CP since they too made it known that it would be upsetting if it's simply a FaF ceremony and not a jersey retirement. The Flames have heard the message loud and clear no doubt; retire the jersey and don't half-ass it.

Man, hearing these iggy highlights on the fan are making me super sad.
There won't be another player like him. The talent, scoring ability, physicality and toughness.
Very true. I actually think if a player ever comes along again that plays the way Iggy did in today’s game... it will be a generational talent that will seem like a man playing against boys. No superstars in the league today play anywhere close to as physical as iginla did or fought the biggest guys to spark his team... or even get as fired up as iginla would.
The game is so cerebral now but I think if a player with his skill set came into the game today he could manhandle the rest of the league like no one else. So many young players wouldn’t even know what to do against someone like that. And it’s been a very recent change in the game... like the last 5 years I’d say.

And probably one of the assistant coaches. Reunite the 2004 OT line for one last presser!

Thank you for all the memories Iggy. There will never be another player with the tools and toolbox that Iggy had. An absolute pleasure to watch and an absolute privilege to have on our team.
It's a disgrace he's not in the NHL 100. I'd like to hear the NHL's reasoning behind that.
As the best Flame of all time, there's no question the jersey should be retired.

It was a panel of players, media and executives. So I suppose they each had their biases. Looking down the list, I would imagine there's a few old timey guys that are there as a nod to that era, but who just weren't as good - Kelly, Delvecchio, Lach, etc. Then there's a Toronto bias - Sundin, and Keon are on there and I'd argue Iginla over them any day. There's some Canadiens - Lemaire and Henri Richard who I'd put behind Iginla.
There's also a bias against current players - only Crosby, Ovie, Kane and Keith (!) are on the list. Iggy was not yet retired at the time. I'd suggest Price is also similarly snubbed in favour of, say, Tony Esposito

Toews is also on that list, no? (Which is absurd).
I also don’t think Price has a spot on that list, but Iggy absolutely does.

Yeah, Toews is on as an active player. Which is also a little mind bottling.
I think Price is at least as good as Tony Esposito and Billy Smith. Maybe Fuhr as well - I never thought he was that great - he just benefited from a ton of offence.
