Worst I’ve seen in the theatre in recent memory is Hail Caesar. For all the A listers in that it was not good...every seemed to leave feeling “wtf was that?”

If only everyone felt the same about movies instead of having different tastes.
Though this thread has taught me that one is not allowed to dislike "Critically Acclaimed" or "Oscar winning" movies...
Anyone is allowed to dislike them. Calling them the worst movie you've ever seen though? I mean there's a lot of godawful movies so it seems weird when someone claims the worst movie they've ever seen is a movie that a lot of people like and respect.
The thread isn't called, "Movies you disliked" or "Movies you thought were overrated". It's called "What is the WORST movie you have EVER seen?" That's setting the bar very high or low as the case may be. Like the movie should basically be unwatchable at all to be considered the worst you've ever seen. And that's why the strange reactions to some people's suggestions because some of the movies suggested clearly cannot be considered the worst of all time compared to much of the dregs of movie history out there including many, many unwatchable trash movies.
On a slightly different note I enjoyed Valerian personally. If anyone thinks thats the worst movie they've ever seen then I'd say they haven't plumbed very deep into the depths of bad movies.

That's what got me wondering, too. This has kind of turned into a 'bad movies you didn't like' thread. When I answered, I thought about the movies I've seen (I'm a fan of movies, and enjoy seeing a lot of them) and picked what I thought to be the worst of the worst of them. To me, there is one answer to this question. There is a 'worst of the worst'. Seeing lists of 'the worst of the worst' makes me wonder.
But the excuse 'Well, a whole bunch of people liked this movie, so it can't possibly be the worst you've ever seen' rings hollow with me. Folks have different tastes, interests and preferences. I, too, for instance...watched and liked Valerian. But I can see where someone may say that it's the worst they've seen.

Watch that and tell me its not worse than half the stuff mentioned here. Teenage me couldn't appreciate it at all. Almost the entire movie takes place with one long car chase. Just cringeworthy bad. Bad action. Bad Jokes. Bad Plot.
A lot of the movies mentioned have some redeeming qualities. For a movie to qualify as one of the worst of all time we need to be talking about movies that had no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Bad plot, bad acting, bad jokes, bad dialogue bad CGI. Nothing remotely good about them at all.

Warner (JR Bourne) and Claire (Caroline Cave) are a happily married couple with two kids and rewarding careers. Warner is the new director of a not-for-profit organization and Claire is employed at an art gallery. Preferring to work doing what they love, money has rarely been a primary motivator for them but recently, it seems, money is all they can talk about. In a boomtown like Calgary where everyone seems to have more than them, Warner and Claire are tired of getting by with less. In an overheated real-estate market, they spend more than they anticipated on a house just as Warner's probationary period at work has been extended. The timing could not be worse and as pressure to keep up with family, job and financial obligations mounts, the stress begins to take its toll on Warner. But is it enough to trigger a murderous rage? When Claire is viciously attacked, Warner emerges as the prime suspect.
I can't even find a clip of this one. Bottom line is you won't live in Tuscany after seeing it.

I actually liked that movie, but my wife and daughter saw it in theaters and had that exact reaction.
"WTF was that?"
Then we rented it at home and watched it again, and while its still a little surreal it makes a little more sense upon repeat viewings.
The problem with that is that some people arent going to offer that movie repeat viewings if they didnt like it the first time and really, they shouldnt have to.
It was a movie that seemed like it was trying to be more complex than it needed to be.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Maybe we should start another thread that is just a list of movies you've paid to see in the theatre and walked out of before the end. If you paid to get in, you must have expected to be entertained, so the movie had to be pretty awful for you to leave before the end.
For me, I've only walked out before the end twice. The first time was Scenes from a Mall, the second was The Avengers (Connery/Thurman one).

That would be kind of interesting.
I dont think I've ever walked out of a movie. I dont see a lot of movies, but I've seen some bad ones.
I think the only one I got close to leaving was 'Deep Blue Sea' but it was so bad it was good, you know?
That being said, the funniest rant I've ever heard about a movie was when our High School Librarian (my TA) just lambasted 'Men With Brooms.'
She hated that movie and she wasnt shy about letting everyone know.

The movie Crash was the absolute worst piece of garbage ever and it still managed to win an Oscar. Stunningly shallow and pandering to people's base emotions.

Which Crash? You talking about the one with James Spader or the one with Matt Dillon as the racist cop.
Both were great!!
I do get the hate for the James Spader Crash though. It's glorified soft core porn. But it was also the fist movie that made me squeamish or wince at certain scenes. So I hold it in a kind regard as it'd as it was intended.

I don't watch a lot of movies because I just can't get into them and appreciate them like other people can but the one movie that I hated most was Traffic. I didn't want to see it to begin with but was out voted by my friends and it was the biggest waste of 2.5 hours. I did get a chance to take a nice nap though. From what I can remember my friends ended up not liking the movie either.
I've seen a lot of movies that I would consider bad, I've seen some that I consider truly awful, but there is one movie that stands above the rest, and that's The Mask.
There was one other movie that came close, I think it was called Superstar....it was SNL based and had a scene with the character trying to screw a tree or something. I can't really count that one though as I turned it off partway through the movie.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Minions yet. Easily the worst movie that made over $1 Billion.
I also asked my wife and her worst movie is Year One with Jack Black and Micheal Cera.
Year One may actually be the correct answer to this question. I also turned off and I never do that after investing my time! I may start playing on phone , etc but I always need the completion factor
