Here is the freeze frame of when it hits Gaudreau. His stick is almost horizontal.
If I had to guess it is about 40ish inches off the ice.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Clearly we have a "Hand of (Hockey) God" goal on our hands here.

I think it actually might leave stones stick, go off hawk , then monahan then gaudreau (still @ or below bar) then while on edge off glass's arm and in. giving it the upward trajectory entering the net.

I do agree he has at least looked better of late and has even generated some decent opportunities, but beyond that it's a bit of a tire fire IMO. Maybe there is an upside still that hasn't been obvious, but you have to squint pretty hard to see it IMO.
But my biggest beef is with the bolded. Sure he may throw a hit here and there, though few are of any effectiveness. But he is so easily moved off the puck. A guy with his size and playing style simply should never be gently shouldered away in the corners and around loose pucks, and i have seen that since he was acquired last year. I certainly understand why Ottawa cut bait on him. He is very much a "soft" player in my eyes.

All fair.
It's not like I'm arguing to build around the guy. I think he's gone from a complete waste to have in the line up to a guy that is providing some good 4th line minutes.
I agree he doesn't win all the physical battles but he is engaging in them more than most players.

The puck does not hit Glass's arm, and there is no perceptible upward trajectory. If there is, it is not obvious to the naked eye.

You could hear it hit Gaudreau's stick watching live on TV. I don't really understand how people are struggling to see it as it seems blatantly obvious in that Tweet.

Seems there are either some strugglers or people not looking closely.
It clearly hits hits Johnny's stick, changes direction, and continues in an **upward** trajectory (meaning contact was well below the crossbar)
It's plain as day if you take the time to look closely.
“No, no, I got a tip on it,” Gaudreau said. “But whoever gets it, it’s not the end of the world. It’s a big goal for us, big win because of how close we are in the standings with these guys. I was really jacked up.”

I believe he tipped the puck, but the “upward trajectory” people are seeing is an optical illusion. From that angle, it is not perceptible, and the eye-level video is too slow to see clearly.

Nope, you can clearly see the puck coming from below the bar, pass under it and bulge the twine at the top of the net as a result of the upward angle.

In either case, it's clearly directed in by Gaudreau's stick and contact is made several inches below the bar as a result of the angle the puck enters the net at.
