How many of those goals went in off a freak deflection, a bad rebound, or just a plain soft goal on Elliott? Using the argument of +/- in this series does not give enough evidence of the individual play of each player. We know that there have been goals against that just have no business going in most of the time.
I'm not convinced by anyone's arguments. Bartkowski has looked fine to me.
On the game tying goal on Monday night he let the puck past him on the left boards instead of clearing it, the ducks kept it in the zone, the hemmed us in for 20 or 30 seconds and scored. All because he misplayed/ didn't play the puck.
my original plan for tonight was for a roasted duck dinner, but with the 7pm start (in bc) it's a little late for a heavy meal like that... and a couple of the guys coming over would be a little late too.
so this is what the main course will be....
Lettuce Wraps
PREP TIME
20 Min
COOK TIME
15 Min
READY IN
35 Min
INGREDIENTS
16 Boston Bibb or butter lettuce leaves
1 pound lean ground beef or pork or duck
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 teaspoons minced pickled ginger
2 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Asian chile pepper sauce (optional)
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 teaspoon Asian (dark) sesame oil
DIRECTIONS
Rinse whole lettuce leaves and pat dry, being careful not tear them. Set aside.
In a medium skillet over high heat, brown the ground beef in 1 tablespoon of oil, stirring often and reducing the heat to medium, if necessary. Drain, and set aside to cool. Cook the onion in the same pan, stirring frequently. Add the garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ginger, vinegar, and chile pepper sauce to the onions, and stir. Stir in chopped water chestnuts, green onions, and sesame oil, and continue cooking until the onions just begin to wilt, about 2 minutes.
Arrange lettuce leaves around the outer edge of a large serving platter, and pile meat mixture in the center. To serve, allow each person to spoon a portion of the meat into a lettuce leaf. Wrap the lettuce around the meat like a burrito

One last battle boys, lets go out with a bang and change the direction of this series. Its on those men in that dressing room tonight, each one of them has to look at the guy beside him and show him hes ready to lay it all down for the greater good.
If there's 1 clip that summarizes this for me, I'm going with my all time favorite:
All those pucks off players is partly by design. Watch the Ducks plant hard to move players in front on Elliot's backside then shoot the puck at Elliot, the skates or the guy on the other side. Seems pretty easy to score off skates when a defensman ties up the stick..
The Ducks have an effective way to score goals we just haven't had a good answer for it. I don't believe it is all by fluke. I can recall when Kipper used to stop the puck from going across the crease Elliot's mistake on the OT goal was kicking it out off of Stones skate. Stone was planted there trying to move the guy in front to no avail but the shot across the crease was well placed. We need block those shots better, or play them into the corners like the Ducks goalies have been doing.

its a strategy to be sure... they are planting themselves out there and hoping for deflections and rebounds...its still lucky though: their strategy simply increases the odds for that luck
Calgary's D needs to step up and battle through though...

I don't remember if it was on here or on Reddit but someone mentioned that one of the new condo buildings across from Stampede Park has parking available for $5 during Flames games. Does anyone know about this and can confirm?
"I've found out why people laugh. They laugh because it hurts so much . . . because it's the only thing that'll make it stop hurting.
... I had thought--I had been told--that a "funny" thing is a thing of a goodness. It isn't. Not ever is it funny to the person it happens to."
I don't think he's terrible, you're right, he's definitely playing up to the level of a 3rd pairing. I think the more appropriate question to ask is: why is he getting so much ice time? GG seems to employ a strategy of even ice time throughout his lines, but the Ducks are a clear example of overloading ice time to your top players.
Anyone still trying to run with this narrative has not looked at icetime stats in this series.
According to NHL.com, average TOI per game
Top D minutes Calgary
Giordano 25:12
Hamilton 22:26
Brodie 21:53
Stone 18:29
Top D minutes Anaheim
Lindholm 23:26
Vatanen 22:11
Theodore 20:19
Manson 19:54
The Flames do not have a Ryan Getzlaf. In all other cases, Calgary's 'top' players are being used more than Anaheim's top players. In most cases a fair bit more.
Can we please stop rolling out these completely false narratives?
