It is actually pretty uncommon to see a goalie change in a game with a one-goal differential. I thought that Elliott played well on the whole and the four straight goals in the second were mostly on defensive breakdowns—not on him.

It turned out that Gulutzan was absolutely right to leave him in. Which was amusing, after watching countless people lose their #### in the GT that he didn't pull him.

I would have preferred a time out but as we saw with the Preds sometimes a goaltending change is a reality check to the bench as their game immediately improved after. Still not clear why he wouldn't have used a timeout when it became 4-3 or 4-4. I can only surmise that he saves them for challenges as he's been stingy with them all season.

I was worried the Backlund goal to tie it up was going to be challenged on the offside as it looked close when watching live (on TV). Glad it was legit and while not pretty, great they got the win.

First game in a while that I didn't really have a problem with the officiating. Coincidence that it was also the first game in a while in which Wideman wasn't dressed? Hmmm...

Which is dumb. You can't bank on a challengeable situation coming up every game and when he has used them, they've been used poorly on situations that don't get overturned anyway.

Should've exercised the time out.

He would've been grilled hard for that if the team didn't come back and win it.

It wasn't bad, but I was pissed that the trip on Tkachuk by Subban wasn't called. It was during the delayed penalty, Tkachuk was coming back from getting a stick. PK stuck his foot out, puck nowhere near, I seen to recall the ref watched it take place. It is BS like that, which goes uncalled, which drives me crazy.

I remember me and my friends being extremely furious since the referee not only saw it, he half-raised his arms in the universally recognized "Wtf was that" gesture to PK yet still didn't call the penalty.

Meh I don't think that's one to be too upset over. Subban had his backed turned, it was more of Tkachuk skating into him trying to draw something.

To Chucky's credit though it almost worked. Such a fun player to have on this team.

Maybe, it could be seen either way. I saw it as PK sticking his foot out. He knows he is back there.

Couple that with the big cross check by Ryan Johansen on Stajan that went uncalled which led to the fight.

Yeah the only calls I thought were missed were Johansen's two big cross checks. At least Bennett made him pay for them.

Tkachuk trip was pretty incidental imo.

What about the Jarnkrok crosscheck to the numbers on Stajan? It was a dangerous distance from the boards too.

How about because it was going to be a close game and he might need a timeout at the end of the game, either with an empty net or icing situation?

Or the massive crosscheck right off the faceoff by Johansen on Bennett, which Bennett IMMEDIATELY took care of, since the refs clearly weren't going to.

its pretty sad a ref lets something like that go yet many Flames fans are still pleased

if Stajan was still on the Leafs that would be first page news on TSN

"Suspention?!? How many games"

Not to mention the multiple late hits, 3rd men in scrums by the Preds. You know things we were getting called for in Vancouver and being called undisciplined

the one that pissed me off was in the first few minutes.

Bouma got 2 minutes for knocking the stick out of a guy's hand who was loosely holding it with only one hand, and the stick wasn't broken, just dropped.

Then, shortly after the 2 minutes expired, Buff grabbed Tkachuk's stick and pulled it out of his hands (which is more flagrant, IMO) and then Buff lassoed him, and then to top it off, wrapped his arm around Tkachuk's head and pulled him down backwards in a full calf-roping move.

No penalty.
