All these charts do is provide objective stats of players. It's up to the user to depend how much weight, if any, they place in any category. It's one tool of many.

It's an attempt to take the emotion out of it. The "intangibles", "good locker room", guys.

Brouwer is a Stanley Cup champion who has played with Toews, Kane and Ovechkin. He plays huge, averages 20 goals and has a right-hand shot. He's joining an organization that has a lot of skill but very little of everything I've listed above, and he wants to be here.

This is exactly what we needed to get to exactly where we want to be headed.

I'd be happy with a win there in the regular season.

Colborne and Jooris out, Brouwer in, is a huge improvement.. $500k less would have been ideal but make no mistake, the team gets way better with this signing

I wonder what trades are on the horizon for this team. A lot of talk about the overpaid bottom 6, I'm think some of our bottom 6 get moved.

Burke and Tree have been very complimentary of Backlund this offseason, that signals trade to me . Bouma as being reported, that wouldn't surprise me either.

More than being a "banger" what brouwer provides is strength.

Strong on his skates, strong on the boards, strong in front of the net and strong in the defensive zone and faceoff circle.

I could see him and Monahan have great chemistry as they both like to play the board game.

Not a fan of this. Seems like we're spending big money on merely average forwards. For all the talk this week about trying to emulate Chicago not paying middling players money, that sure isn't reflected in this signing.

If Brouwer is indeed a replacement for Colborne, I don't get it. Colborne is younger, bigger, likely cheaper, and had more points and goals last season. I don't think Brouwer being "hard to play against" is worth the extra $$$

Very happy with this, I don't think the term or value of contract are out of line with a July 1 signing.

It could be, but I actually think that in itself is a very good sign of how well he has performed in his job.

This acquisition is okay. Not great. Not terrible.

Hero Charts
For the record I assumed they were pretty good indicators when comparing players but then I saw this one and so much for that.

Exact player we need, good term, not gonna cry over the ~$500k I'd like back. Great signing.

if you forget the wage, brouwer is exactly the type of player we need

if you compare what he got to what colbourne was rumoured to be getting, its a no brainer

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Why? I won't be surprised if he has a hard time even finding a job this upcoming season. Definitely won't be for any significant term or money. Teams weren't fooled by his late run last season. Brouwer while I think overpaid is better than a overpaid Colborne. Actually Brouwer is way better than Colborne under any circumstances.

Can we all agree Hero charts are garbage? They're the Green Lantern of charts.

HERO charts are good when you compare two comparable players.

Glencross and Brouwer are not comparable players, they add completely different elements.

I think we can start to see some trades now too. A lot of the meat off the top of the UFA list is gone and teams like COL and the Ducks aren't getting anything in the market.

He's actually known for calling people out... one of the reasons he got moved out of washington was because he was not happy with the level of effort some of the stars were putting out.

Like the player. Not a huge fan of the contract... but its UFA season... not an unreasonable contract considering
