EDIT: Thats dickish but given how tough these tickets are to get I stand by my policy of not passing on presale codes for this show
Honestly, just because someone hasn't liked a facebook page or signed up for an e-letter that doesn't make them less of a fan.
Anyways, in Vancouver they released all of the tickets 15 minutes after 10:00 AM saying initially that it was sold out. Got a group of 4 together. So keep trying people.

I wouldn't be completely bummed if you didn't get in on the fan club presale. They tend to have an allocated amount set for each presale and then the general sale as a whole.

I get it. There will be nothing worse than having people there who only know New Orleans is Sinking and are scratching their heads the rest of the set. But you know some of those folks will be there. Trust me when I say I'm not one of them. Hopefully most of the people that get to be there are pretty solid fans, especially given the finality of the situation.
Anyways, I can't be online during the public onsale so that's why I think the presale might be my best chance at a ticket, glad they've added the 2nd show.

Was super lucky and got a set to the first Calgary show. Sec 113, row 7.
Ticketmaster is the WORST.
Ticketmaster was an especially bad gong show today...
First 15 minutes, says sold out. The only thing available is the "platinum tickets".
10:15 - a ton of tickets available.
10:20 - system crashes
10:25 - more tickets available.
I honestly think they did this on purpose to sell those platinum tickets at ridiculous prices. This was for the Vancouver pre-sale. Not sure if the Calgary one was any better.
So grateful that they decided to do a second show in Edmonton as well. Could not get online today, and will not be able to do it Friday, so a second presale tomorrow is my only hope.

Guys, watch out if you do go the StubHub route. Here's a report of fake tickets being sold on there to the Winnipeg show for seats that are in closed off sections (i.e. the ones behind the stage).
This is absolutely incredible, but it still seems a little odd that their final tour is getting even bigger now but is still the "Ontario and West tour".
Four more shows added, all to existing tour stops. Obviously I realize it's easier to add to existing stops than continue trekking across Canada, but it kind of kills the theory that the extra days in between shows were for rest for Gord, as it almost seems now they were added for flexibility for more shows.
I guess I kind of see going all the way to the maritimes when they're biggest venue is a small hockey arena in Halifax doesn't make sense, but the lack of Quebec seems odd.
Although, it definitely makes me proud as a westerner as I know we've always been huge hip fans out here and four shows in Alberta on a small farewell tour is pretty awesome!
The Tragically Hip announced Monday the addition of four shows to the band’s Man Machine Poem Tour.
Citing an “overwhelming demand” during Monday morning’s fan club pre-sale, the Kingston, Ontario rockers added shows in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto.
Going to Kingston on Aug. 20. I can't tell if I'm excited or horribly sad.
Man, I'm so stoked for you. That is awesome. I bet they play some local bars as well. I thought about going all-in and solo pilgrimaging to Kingston but instead opted for the more conservative Calgary route. Hopefully they broadcast the show on CBC or something. Thinking about which song they'd chose to play last at that show gives me chills.

I'm hoping they repeat the end of the "that night in Toronto" concert DVD from 2004. They ended with Blow at High Dough, had a long outro, repeating "down at the speedway" a few times, each time going back into a jam.
Then on the last one, instead of the standard "same Elvis thing" he sings "same Tragically Hip....thing" and the crowd goes crazy and the show ends.
Starts at the 5min mark

But my perfect ending that probably wouldn't happen is a beautiful version of the song Scared, and the show ends with the guitar outro after the final lyrics:
Okay, you made me scared, you did what you set out to do
I'm not prepared, you really had me going there for a minute or two
He said, you made me scared too, I wasn't sure I was getting through I got to go, it's been a pleasure doing business with you

Almost wishing I kept is simple and got tickets here. No hotels available for any price in Kingston. Spent the last 2 hours, have exhausted my sneaky ways of booking (Marriott silver elite status, AMEX points which includes starwood and hiltons, aeroplan diamond). Next step is looking at the small, run down mom n' pop hotels that don't subscribe to the big sites like expedia, hotwire, etc. Anyone here with some inside Kingston knowledge?
