I was kind of wondering about Joel Otto. He has been with the Hitmen as an assistant for a while now. I am guessing that assistant in the WHL to HC in the NHL is too big of a leap.... has it happened before?
I have no idea how he is as a coach, but I loved him as a player. I also heard he is a top notch dude off the ice.

I really like Lowry but I saw absolutely nothing in the WJ team that indicated he is a guy that can keep a group of star players on the same page as that team was a mess of individuals running around doing their own thing.

Tim Hunter has always been interesting to me. He has loads of years as an assistant, but I know next to nothing about how highly regarded or not he is, or what he even focuses on as an assistant. Special teams? Defence?
Not saying yay or nay on Timmy, but just curious if anyone has any actual info on his coaching career beyond what one can glean off of wikipedia.

Yeah, Moose Jaw seems to be his only head coaching experience with lots of NHL assistant experience. I haven't seen anything pro or con about him but like you I find him interesting.
What I think is Treliving wants a certain style to be played and will look for a coach that fits that style or at least gets on board. Hartley didn't fit and so was on a short leash.

I think I am buying into the conspiracy theory that this all went down because Boudreau became available. So maybe Francis is right. And this will be the worst kept secret in hockey.

I agree but I wouldn't say Francis is right, it's a pretty obvious connection to make to the timing and dozens here said the same thing before Francis did or wrote anyhing on it

Haha, clearly you don't remember Lowry running the Flames special teams. That powerplay was worse than Gelinas/Hartley's.
Hell to the no on Dave Lowry.

I voted Boudreau, but the more I hear/read about Travis Greene, I wouldn't mind him at all. One of those 2 would be great

As per John Shannon's tweet:
Three teams have asked permission to talk to Carlyle. Ottawa, who have interviewed him already, Minnesota and Calgary.

Would Calgary be willing to pay Boudreau more than either Ottawa or Minnesota? Ottawa's owner seems to be scared of spending to the cap. Minnesota, on the other hand, is the opposite.

I do not want Randy Carlyle as the Flames' bench boss.

If we get Carlyle I will be pissed.
I'm so tired of being compared to that crappy brand of Leafs.

Ever since I almost got fired for taking a tip as a 16 year old bag boy at a grocery store, I've had a jaded view of it.
It annoys me how certain service occupations get tips but other ones don't just because society says so.
I will tip a waitress for outstanding service but it has to be more than just taking my order and bringing me my food. Pretty much she/he needs to be super attentive and leave me 'wowed'. It shouldn't be the customer's job to help the restaurant owner pay a server's wages.
EDIT: I don't think cabbies themselves are personally ripping me off. It just seems like the meter goes up $5 a minute. It's absurd. I just gave you $40 to get to the airport, that should be enough.

Dude's, Carlyle is not gonna happen. This whole situation has gone down because Boudreau got shart-canned last week.
This is all my opinion, but there is just way too much smoke here, no matter what Treliving is saying to the media.
