The reason I have high hopes is that he was kind of slow and weak before. His bones grew way before the muscle, a guy like Joe Colborne had much more size to start with.
As Jankowski acclimates to a lanky body he'll get stronger and faster several seasons in a row. If he tops out at 210-220 he'll gain coordination, strength and speed.
Not many players are built like him and he has a real chance at becoming part of the team if he has size and speed. He's going to continue putting on weight and getting better whereas most guys reach a natural weight much earlier.
an opinion is one thing...to try and insult fans and players personally is stupid and that is likely why the guy can't get a real job.
Kid just had the one of the biggest moments of his life take your BS elsewhere and whats wrong with fans being excited about it, don't tell me how to enjoy following my team. Sad, sad life he must have.
I saw a ton of Jake Virtanen prior to him going pro and had some concerns about many of his on-ice habits. It doesn't make me WRONG, per ce, but if you see a player enough times you begin to really nitpick parts of their game.
In summation: I know Lambert and think he's whip-smart and a good writer, but I take most analysts player assessments with a grain of salt. All that really matters is what the Flames think about Jankowski and how the AHL and NHL coaching staffs feel they can use him to maximize his attributes.
Per se.
Sorry. Kind of.

Im a bit surprised the Flames aren't burning a year and Jankowski isn't playing any NHL games this season honestly. Is he available for their playoffs if they make it?
In any case, glad he is signed. Hopefully his offense blooms now that he has turned pro and is in a more offensive system.
I think Jankowski knows he's not hot #### like Vesey, as does his agent. He will be lucky if he becomes an NHLer - as is the case with most prospects - and he knows Calgary is the best place to try to become one because Calgary at least will want a return on investment, even to the point where they could be paying for a sunk cost. Any other team doesn't care about Jankowski and would bury him before bending over backwards.

Well, okay. Yesterday you were convinced he was heading to UFA status, saying you called it first.

This was why I thought Janko would get some games with the big club:

Hartley on Jankowski. "You need to taste it, you think you know but you don't know." On ATO with Stockton at end of season

Jankowski was our first draft pick of the Bob Hartley era
I hope Bob Hartley is around long enough to coach him, it'll just be a nice full-circle.
So looking back, you said the first 49 games were similar to a college year for games played. In the those 49 games 24 were on the road and Johnny had 8G 12A for 20P. Then you said but the next 12 games were more than he was used to playing, 5 were on the road and he went 0/2/2.
Why did you ignore the final 19 games he played, 10 of which were on the road and we went 2/5/7? Was it because it didn't help prove your point?
Oh and then there is playoffs. 11 games, 6 on the road and he is 1/1/2.
He hit a wall at 49 games and then worked his way through it. He is an exception athlete.
I think that he is still adapting as he has done through his whole career. Every year better than the previous one.
