I ended up listening to a portion of the game last night on satellite radio. They had the Sharks feed. I know for the future that I can save myself the time and just drive a sharp metal object into my ears instead of enduring 5 minutes of that.
The play by play guys were incensed that the Flames weren't taking any penalties. You would have thought this group of officials were literally skating around in Flames jerseys and flipping off the entire bench. Then those 3 quick minors in the second happened. Oh suddenly the officials were doing a stand up job. The Flames were thugs. Hartley was a lunatic.
I understand a bit of homerism on a local play by play station but these guys took it a few steps further. I couldn't even understand the flow of the game with these idiots. All I knew was that the Flames were literally murdering people at centre ice and consuming their flesh and blood for sustenance.
Strange, I listened to the post game and they were very unbiased and actually praising the Flames.

A couple weeks ago I was listening to some hockey podcast that ranked all the 30 local broadcast teams. I believe they ranked San Jose one of the worst 3 or 4 in the league.

Who won the fire helmet? Someone should create a thread to track the winners.
Haven't seen any pictures or comments, but Hartley said in his presser that Hiller was "the player of the game". Assumed that meant he got the helmet. Kinda surprised that I couldn't find any mentions otherwise.
Both Hertl and Bennett should be suspended. Frankly I'd rather Bennett get suspended now so he kicks any dirty play habits before they become an issue. A mean streak is one thing but that elbow was just plain old dirty.
What did Bennett do that is apparently suspendable? I missed it and haven't seen anything in here on it.
He elbowed someone in the face while skating by them who knows how bad it was and there was no injury on the play and no one in the nhl not even the sharks org have made any mention of it. He got 2 mins at a crucial point in the game and i think most people besides some fans on here think that was enough.

Wish the NHL would make refs answer questions from the media. Horse crap reffing and not just against us.
Refs are scared enough about their safety in public as it is, riling up a bunch of drunk fans with interrogations that may further fuel their ire seems like a bad idea to me

Journalists can ask refs about games, it's just sort of a taboo thing to do if you're a journalist. Also, if you ask a ref about a call or whatever, they'll almost certainly give you no comment.
