There is absolutely nothing wrong with that poster lol. Anyone complaining better not go see the movie or they're gonna be in for a really rough ride when they find out women get **gasp** killed!!
Oh wait, it's a MOVIE!!! It isn't real. I forgot. You know with all the shapeshifters and flying and lasers shooting out of people's eyes.

I saw it last night. I didn't really enjoy it. The cheese factor in this movie is enormous. I can't believe that I like Kelsey Grammer's Beast better than this one. Also, there was no need for the McTaggert character. I thought Caliban was great.

Cyclops is the perfect leader. Much like Superman, as has been implied, that makes him boring.
The ####ty part for the character is when writers change it up, people still call him awful.

Has anyone gone with a person that doesn't know any of the preexisting characters or storyline? I was amazed by how many inside references were in this movie. Even outside of the movie universe, there were just a tonne of comic related scenes.
If I didn't know what Weapon X was, what Phoenix is, who the hell Psylocke or Caliban is, that Angel is more dynamic than he was allowed to be here (thus the reason for his inclusion at all) and a bunch of other tidbits, there would have been a lot of 'what the hell?'.

Not doing great in the box office. Looking like it'll top out at 160 million domestically. Deadpool made that in 5 days.
Not what fox was expecting at all I bet.
The thing is the other two movies had cool, unique concepts (First Class as an origin story and Days of Future Past with the whole two timeline thing) while this one just looked like your standard superhero vs. a big bad villain affair and the villain looked super lame.

My friend's sister watched it with us. Didn't even watch DoFP or First Class, let alone having any knowledge of previous movies or comics. Mostly blank slate, except for a brief explanation of First Class by her brother immediately prior to the movie. Just one person's opinion, but she said the movie was fun and that she had a good time.

I think using characters from the comics, backstory or not, is pretty much just fan service. If you went in with no knowledge, other then these are mutants and they have fantastic powers, it wouldn't make a difference if they used a classic character or just made one up. Including people like Angel and Psylocke is purely about the fans.
It's how X-Men kind of gets around the "too many characters" thing. Well, in their universe, a large population of the planet are "characters". So you can have people in minor speaking roles, or not even, that have lots of history in the comics. It makes the fans happy and doesn't make a difference to people in the know.
I think this was a good reason for the Ratner backlash as well. He had characters in speaking roles that no one had ever heard of. The spike face guy, etc... Why not just use classic characters?

I know it's rare that we see repeat villains through these movies, but couldn't they have not completely destroyed apocalypse? The odd returning villain with some backstory can go a long way, like Marvels use of Loki. Which should happen more often. That being said they set up the star jammers plot line with Havoc, instead of papa Summers it seems.

I actually kind of liked this movie. I went in thinking it would be terrible but it was merely mediocre.
I think they caught some of the classic overstuffed, overblown, overzealous X-Men 90s storytelling in this movie which I thought was kind of cool.
Apocalypse was still pretty disappointing. Love the scene where he's literally designing the his henchmen's costumes and nodding approvingly like "yeah that looks cool." Anyway, he's basically a big blue Mcguffin which serves to bring the characters together at the end. He has no other purpose or point.
A base hit when I was expecting a foul ball.

Did anyone else find that scene where Jean gave Logan back some of his memories kinda awkward?

The entire Weapon X scene was awkward. But yes, the end of it was awkward as well.

I would have enjoyed the Weapon X scene a lot more if they hadn't teased Wolverine in the trailer.

Ya they obviously went to great lengths to keep that cameo secret as no news sites were leaking it ahead of time, speculating yes but nothing confirmed (at least that I saw). Then they spill the beans in the final trailer, so weird.

Yeah. Mad respect for keeping it secret. It would have been such a "YES!" moment. And with the tease it was more like, "Oh, Stryker's here, I guess we're seeing Wolverine soon. Cool."

Well sexual tension between like a 100 year old dude and a high school girl will probably always be a little awkward
