What are the chances the Republic primaries come down to Donald Trump vs. Sarah Palin?

Now that'd be a show to watch haha.

Slim to none. Trump is now floating the third party thing. Likely because he knows that the GOP rank and file and leadership are not going to let him win. Which would be awesome. If he can bleed a few percentage points from the GOP it likely assures a democrat victory as whoever the GOp nomination is will have to court that vote to win. Which distances them from the independents as it did for Romney and McCain.

Well I wouldn't say "nothing" to do with IQ. If someone believes that we don't have a moral obligation to reduce fossil fuels, that perspective is usually going to come from either genuine or willful ignorance regarding climate change. I mean you could argue that it comes from a genuine moral stance of pure self-interest, but that likely doesn't make up the majority of cases.

A couple of Texas billionaire brothers must not have liked Trump bragging about his money and just gave Ted Cruz $15 million for his campaign. I guess it's their money but with the bible thumping comments from them it's most likely not going to help Cruz get any nomination.

Quote:
"Our country was founded on the idea that our rights come from the Creator, not the government. I'm afraid we're losing that,"

"Unless we elect a principled conservative leader ready to stand up for our values, we'll look back on what once was the land of opportunity and pass on a less prosperous nation to our children and grandchildren. That's why we need Ted Cruz."

Driven mostly by their opposition to abortion and their fear that their religious sect -- which interprets every word of the Bible literally -- is under attack.

Trump is entertaining and knows how to work the media but all these Republicans are still believing in Reaganomics and the trickle down theory which will put the Yanks back into a two tiered system which will be their downfall. How anybody can vote for any of them is beyond me.

Did Trump rape his ex-wife?

http://www.thedailybeast.com/article...source=twitter

Quote:
It was an unfortunate turn of phrase for Trump—in more ways than one. Not only does the current front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination have a history of controversial remarks about sexual assault, but as it turns out, his ex-wife Ivana Trump once used “rape” to describe an incident between them in 1989. She later said she felt “violated” by the experience.
Quote:
Michael Cohen, special counsel at The Trump Organization, defended his boss, saying, “You’re talking about the front-runner for the GOP, presidential candidate, as well as private individual who never raped anybody. And, of course, understand that by the very definition, you can’t rape your spouse.”

“It is true,” Cohen added. “You cannot rape your spouse. And there’s very clear case law.”
Quote:
The book, by former Texas Monthly and Newsweek reporter Harry Hurt III, described a harrowing scene. After a painful scalp reduction surgery to remove a bald spot, Donald Trump confronted his then-wife, who had previously used the same plastic surgeon.

“Your ####ing doctor has ruined me!” Trump cried.

What followed was a “violent assault,” according to Lost Tycoon. Donald held back Ivana’s arms and began to pull out fistfuls of hair from her scalp, as if to mirror the pain he felt from his own operation. He tore off her clothes and unzipped his pants.

“Then he jams his penis inside her for the first time in more than sixteen months. Ivana is terrified…It is a violent assault,” Hurt writes. “According to versions she repeats to some of her closest confidantes, ‘he raped me.’”

Following the incident, Ivana ran upstairs, hid behind a locked door, and remained there “crying for the rest of night.” When she returned to the master bedroom in the morning, he was there.

“As she looks in horror at the ripped-out hair scattered all over the bed, he glares at her and asks with menacing casualness: ‘Does it hurt?’” Hurt writes.
Quote:
Trump’s lawyer then changed tactics, lobbing insults and threatening a lawsuit if a story was published.
“I will make sure that you and I meet one day while we’re in the courthouse. And I will take you for every penny you still don’t have. And I will come after your Daily Beast and everybody else that you possibly know,” Cohen said. “So I’m warning you, tread very ####ing lightly, because what I’m going to do to you is going to be ####ing disgusting. You understand me?”

“You write a story that has Mr. Trump’s name in it, with the word ‘rape,’ and I’m going to mess your life up…for as long as you’re on this frickin’ planet…you’re going to have judgments against you, so much money, you’ll never know how to get out from underneath it,” he added.

I don't know who this person is, but I would like to break his nose. I would find that quite satisfying.

I agree that what is quoted there was wrong on a lot of levels, but is there any evidence that Cohen made those statements, besides Mr. Hurt saying he did?

You think he just made it up? I tend to doubt it. This seems like a pretty litigious dude. Don't want to be posting something he didn't say. Unless your view is that the author is a complete moron.

Not a moron. I just feel that Trump has created an utter gong show that surrounds him. I just can't imagine somebody would make a statement like, "you can't rape your spouse" in this century. Even if someone really believed something like that, you'd have to be incredibly stupid, incredibly drunk, or lack any kind of social acumen to state it outloud. But I might be giving republicans too much credit, as I seem to recall a story on CNN a while back regarding "legitimate rape".

Well, he's owned it and apologized for it now.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/28/politi...el-cohen-rape/

Quote:
A top adviser to Donald Trump apologized Tuesday for comments he made in an explosive interview while defending the Republican presidential candidate from a decades-old rape accusation.
Quote:
Marital rape today is illegal in all 50 states and non-consensual sex between spouses does in fact constitute rape.

"As an attorney, husband and father there are many injustices that offend me but nothing more than charges of rape or racism. They hit me at my core. Rarely am I surprised by the press, but the gall of this particular reporter to make such a reprehensible and false allegation against Mr. Trump truly stunned me. In my moment of shock and anger, I made an inarticulate comment - which I do not believe -- and which I apologize for entirely," Cohen said in a statement to CNN.
EDIT: Also, apparently now Ivana Trump denies it and throws her support behind The Donald:
Quote:
"I have recently read some comments attributed to me from nearly 30 years ago at a time of very high tension during my divorce from Donald. The story is totally without merit. Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of. I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign. Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president," Ivana Trump said in the statement, which was verified by the Trump campaign.

Some states did have clauses in the law that makes it so there was no rape in marriage. In the eyes of the law....obviously morally is a completely different story. I believe in this supposed case that New York had already struck down their law.

I don't really believe Ivana now to be honest. She's basically playing the I lied because divorce card and I don't believe that is the case. I suspect Trump has many skeletons in his closet and we're going to start hearing about them. I suspect he has also paid quite handsomely to have those skeletons hidden in that closet.

Trump Would ‘Love’ Sarah Palin in His Cabinet: ‘She’s a Special Person’

Quote:
Host and apparent Palin obsessive Kevin Scholla asked the controversial future president whether he could see himself “picking up the phone, giving the governor [Palin] a call and picking her brain on some things, or perhaps having her along in some official capacity.”

Trump’s response: “I’d love that. Because she really is somebody who knows what’s happening and she’s a special person, she’s really a special person and I think people know that.”

Well, like most things in life, the Simpsons have predicted it. On March 19, 2000 they aired an episode that flashes forward to the future. Lisa Simpson takes over as the first straight, female president from Donald Trump.
