Will be interesting to find out how bad Monahan and Hudler were banged up....some others too maybe.
Heck of a season, but Anaheim was full credit for the series win. They are damn good.
Flames have a ways to go still no doubt, but lots of great pieces in place already.

Getzlaf and Perry receive lots of praise, but imo it is their D that makes that team go. Fast, skilled and great active sticks. Good gap control throughout the series.
Can't wait for next season.

Yeah. I thought the (biggest) difference in the series was the tired Flames defensemen giving the Duck forwards too much space - just too easy to enter the zone.
Just out of gas.

Now to make breaking the curse of this building a priority next season! What is now...23 games?
I just have to add FU Corey Perry!

It would have been a more even series if the Flames weren't playing without 3 of their 4 best players (Monahan and Hudler played, but were obviously hampered significantly with injuries)

1. Weak penalty to Backlund results in Anaheim tying the game,
+2. Perry interference on winning goal,
= Not a clean win for Anaheim but they're used to winning games that way...too bad it's not a level playing field in the NHL but hopefully that will change one day...
In the meantime...
Thanks, Calgary Flames, for an awesome season and playoffs!!!

Just think about where most of us realistically thought this team would end up this season. Out of the playoffs, and probably somewhere near the bottom of the standings. Not only did they make the playoffs and win their first series in 11 years, they did so mainly due to a lot of good young players.....Monahan, Gaudreau, Brodie, Ferland among others. Sam Bennett is 18 years old. Crazy. And they did a lot of this without the best defenseman in the league this year. And then realize they have a truck load of draft picks this summer.
Tonight is tough, but man, what a rebuild and what a future. Good times ahead for all of us for years to come.

At the start of the season, the expectations for this team was to be a bottom feeder. We didn't only just make the playoffs, but we won a round! We have a very bright future!

Such a fun season.
About the only complaint I have about that game was the Backlund penalty seemed pretty ridiculous.
Wish we could have found that 3rd goal, but can't beleive how far we came this year. If we have Gio during the series we win at least one of Game 4 or 5, if not both.

And on top, we didn't just bend over and spread 'em for the Ducks, one of the strongest teams in the league. We were actually in it for most of the games.

I loathe Ryan Kessler so much that I don't want bad things to happen to him. I want his life to be filled with coming oh-so close to good things but never getting them.
What an absolute piece of garbage that guy is. Wouldn't want him on my team if he was free.

Others have said it but to get here without Giordano was HUGE and can only help in the future. This is a good team. 2nd round. We were supposed to be strong candidates for McDavid! Yeah, there you go, all you 'advanced stats" junkies. There. You. Go. Eat it.
Yeah. I'm drunk. Whatever. Still happy with the progression of this team.

For all the corsi people, here are some basic stats:
They were picked to finish 30 out of 30. They finished 7 out of 30.

For me I don't care about their fans. I just don't want pieces of trash like Perry and Kesler anywhere near the Cup. Unfortunately puke face Perry has one already but hopefully the only memory Kesler ever has is seeing the Bruins celebrate while he cries.
