Why does the NHL have to stage the lottery during the playoffs? Just focuses attention away from great hockey and playoff stories to the teams that failed. I don't want to hear about the Oliers Leafs etc right now.
I forgot about that the lottery was tonight. we have competent management who was able to qualify for the playoffs so it completely slipped my mind.
I was cooking dinner when my phone started going bananas. Foolishly I check and discover that the oilers won the lottery. I'm in disbelief and completely irate and I have to check twitter and what not. I complete forgot I was cooking and now my romantic dinner with the girlfriend is ruined and she's irked that this oilers mess distracted me enough to forget about the dinner.
Thanks oilers, you're the absolute worst thing to happen to hockey.

The absolute worst thing for a franchise like this is any sense of complacency or relief that a lotto win like this brings. I have absolute confidence that this will result in a bottom 5 finish next season, and hopefully, another lottery win. When losers think they're winners in an incredibly demanding environment, they lose and they lose and they lose. It's going to be a phenomenal 2015-16, but who cares now because PLAYOFFS
Just think of how much more fun kicking their butts will be now! Their list of excuses will be pretty thin when they still suck after winning another lottery
Probably because they have the freedom to do so, and have not lived under a rock for the past 8 years. The Edmonton media does not have the same liberty to do so.
7 years. Didn't you hear MacT's final press conference this year? They made the playoffs in 2008, great success.
Well, at least Toronto and Buffalo doesn't get McDavid. All I hear from TSN is how great it'll be for Toronto to get him.
Anyway, at least the Flames will see McDavid a lot more than if he was playing out east. This will definitely make the Flames better in a way that made the Flames better back in the late 80's. I just hope the Oilers are able to manage their team better with this draft pick. They really need a good respectable coach and a reliable defense.
Why are pundits saying the Oilers just need a goalie and a d-man or two to build a contender? Even with all those high draft picks up front, they were 26th in goals for this season.

The worst thing about this result is having to have a reasonable hockey conversation with an Oilers fan since their response will be a smug "we got Connor McDavid"
Some Oiler fans actually started to see reality however now they will regress to the same tripe they have held on to for years.
