Were Sven and ortio listed on the flames site after they got sent down? I can't imagine why they would be.

I swear if I ran the Flames website I would drop players off the roster for 20 minutes at a time just to mess with some of you guys :P

The Flames brass and web marketing team must know that doing something like this (removing a name) around trade deadline time is a stupid business move, that's usually something that wouldn't be done (updating the website) until it actually happens before it's "officially" released to the public. Draws unnecessary attention from fans and media alike.
Also, would the Flames really deal Raymond right now? Horribly un-classy to do that after having a kid, unless Raymond requested a move. Just seems like a bad PR move any which way you look at it. He's also been playing rather well lately, and we can't exactly be giving up hot talent right now if we're making a playoff push.

That's not saying much at all. I know he's on a bad team, but he's on pace to be -42 this year. I watch Phoenix a lot, and he's poor defensively. He makes bad decisions and turns the puck over a lot. His offensive game makes up for it to an extent, but not a player we need, especially at the premium it would take to get him.

They should technically still show up on the "In the System" roster page though

It wouldn't surprise me if the IT side is done straight after the trade has been filed and before the players have been notified. Definitely before a public release though. In any other business the IT decom process is done well in advance so users don't crack the ####s and delete all their stuff. Restoring Exchange mailboxes without brick level mailbox backups can be aids.

Uh huh. You do realize we are talking about hockey players and not office staff correct? Its surprising the debates you can have on the internet ...

Eh? I think it's saying something. Wideman hasn't been that bad this year defensively, it'd even say he has been above average! I too watch quite a few ARI games and I can definitively say that Yandle has been better than OEL defensively this year. True, OEL was an absolute gong show for the first 30-40 games, but still...Yandle carried that team and has looked great. I agree we should not pay overs for a guy who ARI will demand a premium for, but lets not pretend he isn't an awesome dman.

Went would it ever be done before public release? And before a single insider gets any info? You guys are freaking out over nothing

The web marketing team seems to screw up every year. So I'm not reading much into this.
As for the un-classy thing , I agree. That said it sure sounds like they were just about to trade the 2 new dads in a deal for Horton.

Yeah, I do mate, that's why I specifically outlined what happened to general office staff and what I thought would happen with NHL players. Professional athletes or not, an enterprise organization has strict policies in place for exiting users, athletes, whatever. Guarantee HR finds out before the player does and the policy gets activated.

FWIW I don't think that is the case with the Flames removing people off the website. I was just responding to his sarcastic comment dismissing the fact IT staff find out #### quick. It's how it works in business.

He's an awesome offensive d-man. To suggest he's carried the team defensively is off base. OEL has been much better since December.
I completely disagree with you about his ability in his own end, but that seems irrelevant, as you seem to agree it would be ill advised to over-pay for him given what the likely asking price would be.
We're one of the most offensive teams in the league from our back end. Over-paying for Yandle is not filling an area of need.

NHL.com still has Raymond as a Flame so nothing official has happened. Although we IT people try our best to be perfect beings we do make human mistakes. It's in our programming.

Back in the day you used to regularly be able to see free agent signings before they broke on the NHLPA website. It was the only resource for yearly salaries.
