Your schtick has often been similar type rebuttals that come off as not only impolite, but arrogant. Calling a point non-sensical and bottom of the barrel does NOT make your stance any more right. It really just makes you seem like an ass, and you have been criticized vehemently on this site for such replies.
Heavy Jack's reply was fine. 100% fine, so he gets an actual discussion.
Don't get me wrong Jack, I wouldn't think that the team would necessarily just fold and go belly up. I do believe that they are a stronger team than that. I do, however, have a hard time believing that they wouldn't be affected at all, especially if the return was all for futures-only.
Some trades spark teams and provide them a lift. However, some trades do somewhat deflate teams. For instance, I remember listening to what Iginla thought about the trade that brought in Conroy from St. Louis, and how he was angry and a little dejected at the same time initially. The Toronto team (which albeit have been a demoralized team with poor leadership) are completely dejected after their trade. Even Buffalo's players are rumored to be down after that trade.
If I was a player, and Curtis Glencross was both a friend and a team mate, I would be sad to see him go regardless of the circumstances, but I would understand this is a business and a team needs to make these decisions. However, as a hockey player, I would probably feel much more negative if that trade didn't bring in immediate help to make help make that push. Likewise, if the return was heralded as really good, it would be easier to feel better about the trade knowing that your team was probably going to be a bit better now.
I don't think it is such an outlandish idea to think that players do have opinions and feelings.
Also, I never stated that the Flames SHOULD keep Glencross, just that he does provide definite value to the organization and that value should be met in any trade. What that value is, I am not qualified to valuate personally - but there is value there.
