Had some break chances in both sets (and a set point in set 2 to force a 3rd set). He's right there and that's with not a great return game and backhand.

Wawrinka defeats Berdych in three sets (6-4 in the deciding set) to take the Rotterdam title.

More Milos/Kei fun is likely on the horizon:

Davis Cup rosters for next month
Canada: Dancevic, Nestor, Pospisil, Raonic
Japan: Nishikori, Soeda, Ito, Uchiyama

Just wondering if anybody saw the Vasek - Joker match earlier today - Joker won in straight sets (6-4, 6-4), so based on those scores, it looks like a pretty competitive match. Really tough luck for Vasek drawing Novak in the first round in Dubai.

Great to hear! I was at the US open match between Milos and Kei last year. Will also be in attendance for Davis Cup. Should be a great weekend in Vancouver!

Anybody have any input on this Borna Coric kid? Apparently he's looking like quite the rising star.

I've been following him a bit in the Croatian papers lately and he's setting high expectations for himself. He says things like "I'm the best" without joking or batting an eyelash. He's an interesting personality.

He's being coached by Zeljko Krajan right now, which is good, because Krajan really helps balance players out. He's very patient and methodical.

Coric's backhand is fun to watch.

He's facing Federer next.

Vasek played one of his better matches of the year but will continue to get tough draws early until he starts to go deeper in events.

He came to the net far more than he has been in the past and had some success. It will be interesting if he finally deploys this tactic more the rest of the year as it suits his game much more then baseline play he's been relying on. His downfall continues to be his inability to hit a decisive shot when he needs too. Instead he seems stuck in the approach of trying to outhit top players in long rallies instead of mixing it up and applying pressure with net play or off speed shots.

I would imagine this decision was based partly on the fact that both he and the coaches would be closer to home base before the big grind begins in March. The top players on tour seem to be treating the post Aussie open gap as a mini off season and using the time to fine tune their games these days. Memphis has basically turned into a nothing event the last few seasons as well so what's the point in playing against poor competition when you could be challenging your game early on in the year at these bigger European events?

Davis Cup today!

Milos vs Ito at the top of the hour.

In Scotland, Isner was up 2 sets to 0 then lost the 5th set 15-13 (no surprise)

Milos wins the second set 6-1. This is a pretty good spanking of Ito.

That was a thrashing (6-2 in the 3rd set). Let's go Vasek.

Loving the atmosphere. The Davis Cup has really grown to something special here in Canada. I have a few coworkers there and they said people were tailgating, there was a marching band and it's so loud, they can't even hear themselves think.
