I hope that 2 shot swing at the end today doesnt come back to haunt Hearn. Bubba will be sitting pretty if he is just even or 1 under when he gets to 13. wouldnt matter for the placings, but all 3 of the back nine par 5s could have been par 4s. The majority of golfers have had short irons or wedges on their second shots.

Caddie Simon Clarke says Robert Allenby is lying about his argument with caddie Mick Middlemo

Quote:
However, another caddie Simon Clarke has now jumped to his fellow bagman’s defence after witnessing the verbal confrontation. Clarke was in the same group as Allenby working for South Korean SJ Park and says he wants to speak out in favour of Middlemo.

Clarke, who has known his compatriot Allenby for the best part of two decades, said: “I wouldn’t be talking about it if he (Allenby) didn’t tell the media afterwards a whole lot of porky pies.
Quote:
“I’ve known Rob for a long time and I’ve known Mick for a long time. It’s disappointing that Allenby is still treating people that way and how many good caddies he’s gone through.

“It’s sad that he speaks to the guys this way and doesn’t wait until after the round. It’s disappointing that he’s up to his old tricks.”

Middlemo also claims he was called "a fat so-and-so" by Allenby and Clarke added: "Mick took exception to that. He got fired up.

“If Rob tells the true story, I’m not speaking out. But lies will affect Mick’s career.”

When I heard Hearn's caddy saying go right at the pin at 18 I cringed, I played abby 6 times, one less club and it's an easy 2 putt birdy short left but there's no room for a mistake going at that pin.. none!

Anyway, hopefully he can shake two great players 2 back chasing him down in Day and Watson and even know he's 4 shots out you have to know Furyk is smelling blood as well.

Hearn only hitting 50% of fairways in the tourney this week. Only hit 6 yesterday.

He needs to hit the fairway. On the 5th hole he goes from fairway bunker to greenside bunker. already gave one birdie back

Day heating up and only 1 back.

Looks like Bubba is playing his way out of this. The one to be worried about is Day- almost has as much length as Bubba and will probably destroy the last stretch of holes.

I'm at work listening on the radio while prepping for month end. Really good coverage - not expected to be honest. Phil Taturangi is really good. Calls it like it is. Said that both Watson and Hearn started hot but fell into being "less than average". Credited Hearn for still scrambling well enough to keep his lead, but saying he has to pick it up.

Radio really praising the size of the crowd as well.

Too bad- didn't hear any idiotic baba booey like calls until today. Was hoping the Canadian gallery wouldn't be doing that crap.

I could never attend a pga tour event- would be too tempted to punch a baba booey or mashed potatoes screamer in the face.

Day through 16 with a birdie to tie the lead. Hearn on 16, missed the fairway again, but good recovery. 30 yards short of green in 2 on the par 5. Up and down gets him the lead again.

Furyk 1 back starting 18. Missed a makable putt on 17 to tie.

Watson struggling today. Had 179 yards left on the par 5 to set up an eagle try. Missed green short.

Radio saying Jason Day drives approximately 380 off the tee, in the fairway, on the 476 yard par 4 17.

386 is official measurement

Hearn lips out on 16 for birdie, gets par on second easiest hole on course.

Watson makes birdie and is 1 back.

Leaderboard:

Day - 15
Hearn -15
Watson -14
Furyk -14

2 holes left

380
386 to be precise....staggering.

Feels like this is slipping away from Hearn.

Day birdies 17 to take a 1 shot lead.

Outside of the bomb at 17, Day isn't hitting many fairways either. However he's averaging +45 yards on Hearn.

Hearn misses the fairway on 17. Again.

Watson's drive on 17 was a mere 385.

Looking like all those putts Hearn left short will be the difference. Needs a massive slip up by Day on 18.

Edit- and as I post that, Day goes in the fairway bunker which hopefully prevents him from getting on in 2

Watson birdies 17 as well to tie Hearn at -15.

Furyk in at -14

Currently:

Day -16, in fairway bunker off tee on 18 Will have to lay up
Watson - 15, in fairway off tee on 18. 186 left
Hearn -15, in fairway off tee on 18. 211 yards left

btw, based on the last 2 days, i'm of the opinion that Phil Taturangi is one of the best commentators for golf, possibly my favourite.

Day makes a 22 footer on 18 for birdie.

Hearn and Watson have to eagle for playoff.

Day wins

Watson birdies 18 to take 2nd.

Hearn lips out on 18 and finishes solo 3rd. Great tournament for Hearn. Just didn't have it today. Still a big payday and a huge Fed Ex Cup point increase for him as well. Goes from 63 to 38, which means he'll have a great shot at making the Tour Championship (top 30) which is another enormous payday tournament.

Would have been sweet to see Hearn win, but I feel good for Day winning. After his pretty gutsy performance at the US Open, it's good to see rewarded with a win.

How do you know it's Thursday/Friday of a major? Dustin Johnson is in the lead. No one dominates the non-weekend of majors like Dustin.
