That's why this issue is an issue with Calgary cable providers only (Shaw). Poor cameras aside, the delays in sound do not happen for streaming Flames games.
The bad cameras and equipment are just likely leftover from pre-$ Sportsnet days. I have seen some telecasts that looked very sharp.

Are we able to confirm this though? Is this strictly a Calgary AND Shaw problem? If someone has Telus in Calgary, or Shaw somewhere else in the region like Edmonton, does this problem not exist?
Interestingly, as you have said earlier, the delay doesn't happen on Game Centre streaming.

This isn't just a problem in Calgary. Last season it was a problem on Shaw in Saskatoon. I have Sasktel now and have yet to notice it, or it hasn't been bad enough that its been noticeable.

I don't believe this is a Shaw problem because I haven't noticed any of the same issues while watching the SportsNet Oilers broadcasts. If the Shaw system is some how screwing up the Flames broadcast why wouldn't it also screw up the Oilers broadcast? I think this is an SN problem.

Sportsnet West is currently showing the Oilers game until approximately 7:30 and the schedule says that the Hawks game is on after that. Puck drop for the Hawks game was 6:30 though. Why are they not showing the Hawks game live on a different channel? That seems odd.

They wouldn't negotiate "bad quality" but they would negotiate a "price" they want to be paid for the rights, and Rogers may say to them that at that price "quality X" is what we are willing to offer (because Rogers will want a certain margin on the rights). It would then of course be up to the Flames to say we are comfortable in that level of quality tomget the price we want, or say no, well take less money for the rights to ensure a higher level of quality or production value.
I have no idea how this works, but in the rights negotiations, the Flames would obviously be talking to Rogers about the production value they are willing to accept for their product, as well as price for the rights. Just like in any negotiation, all the variables would come into play to land on an agreement between the two parties that gets the price the flames want for their revenue stream, and the cost Rogers wants to make the money they want off the deal.

Watching sports net connected on the west channel this morning.
... They just skipped over the Flames game highlights. Entirely.

Sportsnet is no good. I avoid that station at all costs whenever possible.

You're reaching, badly, Cleveland Steam Whistle, and I sincerely hope you realize that.
Buy Centre Ice and watch any other broadcast. This isn't a Flames thing. This is a Rogers thing, and it is 100% on their own cheapassery.

I'm not reaching at all, because I have no desire for a particular outcome. I was simply asking a question, kind of funny that it's somehow offended some people.
I asked the question because some suggested Rogers broadcast on regional games for the leafs and the Nucks were not subject to the same issues. There are lots of reasons that could be.
-Rogers is cheap on all their regional broadcasts
-Rogers is cheaper on broadcasts for the Flames because they drive less revenues than others so they invest less
-the Flames pay less for their rights so Rogers invests less
-etc
The lis of possibilities goes on. Was looking for someone who actually has knowledge of the industry to help me understand the factors that go into these types of things and tell me whether some of the factors that run through my head are legit or not. If you state it's the same on all other Rogers casts via center ice, evidence point that suggests the teams negotiations are part of it.

The audio thing was an issue for one game...which seemed "unsync-ed" for a fraction less of a second than the Kerr era, but it was then resolved the next game and since.
I'll take some under-saturated colors on the HD cameras given the outstanding quality of our announce team.
Best in Canada, maybe the league, for a regional broadcast, both on paper before the season started, but then listening to them as well for the 10+ games so far. Ball with a great call, great understanding of when a play is ho hum and when it's building up, Hrudey with a good handle on what's going on and not always slipping into cliches, and awareness and insightful comments by both guys to understand what may have happened on a play that wasn't 100% apparent to the viewer...and overall just good chemistry between them and they seem to be enjoying it.
As another poster said, when games come on, one is hoping games are regional games, because we'll get a better call than the national guys. Certainly some karma, given the embarrassing circus act we had to put up with the past two seasons on the PBP.

It will likely be back the next time the Flames have a home game being broadcast on the SN-Flames channel, which is Thursday.

Ron Maclean's Sunday night thing, Hometown Hockey... What are everyone's thoughts on it?
I don't really get the point personally. Ron fills the air-time in front of a mass of children plus that CityTV lady who just seems grateful and bewildered to be there.

I couldn't care less about Sportsnet. They will get better. But for the love of all that is good and pure can we please do something about the absolute vomit pile that is TSN's new website? Sweet mother of crap is this thing bad. 6 inches of dead space on the sides and then the drop down menus overlap with the ads and all the other junk on the right? What is the point of having all that empty space and then making the user have to scroll sideways on the drop down menus?
What a piece of crap.

Totally agree. Their old site was easy to navigate, the comments worked well (lots of trolls though) and you didn't have to get a video with every story.
