flames looked putrid tonight. scared of the puck, giving it away the minute they gained possession, dump + chase without chasing and giving the puck up on every single dumpin, defensive collapses all over the place. was really ugly if not for hiller being a super hero

biggest takeway is just how awful wideman has been. anyone remember the wideman of this time last year? guy was a total stud. now it looks like he has cement shoes instead of skates. good to see him finally use that shot hes essentially getting paid 5.25 mil for
If we were crap and still won, what does that make Chicago? I'm honestly astonished that despite the fact we beat the Hawks 2-1 in their own backyard, all you can look at is the negatives. Jesus dude, lighten up and enjoy a Flames win!

Well that was a game. 5 games in, second back to back game situation. Quite likely one of the worst ways to start a season yet they have found a way to grind out 6 of a possible 8 points (On the road trip). It hasn't been pretty, it hasn't been by the book, but they have got it done. As the team develops, the winning culture will only benefit them. Unlike the Oilers, who are McDavid bound.

The man was brilliant, pure and simple. In my not so humble opinion, that was not a goal, and as such I am counting this as Hiller's first shutout of the season.
Now that I've seen you in person, I think you actually have the hair to pull that move off.

I jumped out of my chair in excitement and screamed just as much as anyone else when backlund put it in but that doesnt make the 60 minutes of really scary bad hockey go away. This is gonna catch up to the flames. Remember how when TO was in town and we SPANKED them but lost under pretty much the same circumstances? That's what happened with us tonight, and most nights this game is gonna be 5-1 if carcillo doesnt miss complete gimmi goals multiple times in one game

I thought for sure there was a more recent game with Brathwaite making 50 saves. Turns out it was a tie vs St Louis. Crazy to see almost identical shot totals (50-17). I'll never forget that rare feeling of excitement during those dark years.

Oh relax already. It was the 2nd night of back to back games featuring a sick, tired bottom feeder team playing one of the best teams in the league. No one needs you to be the voice of doom surrounding how badly we got out-played under those circumstances.

It's going to "catch up" with the Flames? Thanks tips. I guess we can now come to grips with the fact we might be one of the bottom five teams in the league this year.

Jonas Hiller was lights out tonight. He was solid and couldn't fault him on that goal. That was an awesome tipped in. I love the competition between Hiller and Aramo. I don't really if the Flames employ the 1A and 1B goaltender as long as both of them play the way they've been playing.

Flames was actually pushing it with so many penalties tonight. Luckily the PK guys and Hiller especially shut the Hawks down.

I didn't see the first and second period but I saw the whole third. Backlund and Byron was awesome during those period. I didn't even see Johnny Gaudreau on the ice in the 3rd. I guess him, McGrattan and Setoguchi was pasted in the bench on that period.

Good back-to-back win by the Flames. Too early in the season but I am liking the development of Backlund, Byron, Brodie and Ramo so far. I hope they keep it up. I also feel that once Gaudreau notch his first goal, don't care how, he'll start picking up his game. He is struggling a little bit but that's understable being his first season in professional hockey.

Anytime we beat the Blackhawks it's like taking the whole cookie jar instead of just sneaking one cookie. We should celebrate even though we stunk up the joint, because our goaltending situation looks sweeeet right now

This train of thought is just mind boggling isn't it? And there are so many people who think the same thing and it just makes no sense. Why would you want your team to imitate anything the Oilers do when they are the epitome of what an NHL team should NOT be. They are an OUTRIGHT failure, there is no nicer way of putting it, they are trash. They are the worst team of the running decade, and it's not even debatable. Do the exact opposite of everything they do and you will be a successful NHL team.

I think a lot of the Oiler boosters on these "expert" panels are angling for jobs. All honesty.
