I almost feel that signing Hiller is just asset collecting. If he does well, he can be flipped (or Ramo) for some other other asset. Being a short contract, he likely isn't in the long term plans, nor was goaltending an issue for us last season when Ramo was in net.
Anyhow, I like it if that is what it is. I think rebuilding teams should take on reclaimation projects with the thought of buying low and selling high.

Kipper was pretty antisocial himself. It's not that he didn't like the team or had attitude issues, it's just like the previous poster says.. goalies can be strange.
By everything Hiller said in his interview he sounds pretty pumped to be here and to contribute to the team.

I thought we wanted guys with good character on this rebuilding team?

Maybe there was another ceremony after this one, but they seem to have spliced together the handshake and what could have been the 'ceremony'

He's a nucklehead.
Can't wait for that team to suck even harder this year. Maybe this guy will jump off the bandwagon like the rest of them.

As far as I'm concerned Hiller came to the good guys.

I thought it was more likely that we made a deal for Cam Ward where we would pick up a pick for our generosity in taking their expensive over the hill goalie.
Hiller to me is far better choice and shows we intend to get better. Even if as someone says, this will get us to 9th place, that's an improvement and no problem as long as we understand we are still in the development stage and not yet contending for the cup. The intention after all is to make moves to improve the team. Some people forget this.
We're pretty much set at centre anyways. Where would we put McDavid?

If we do suck and are in the sweepstakes to pick McDavid the real question then becomes where do we put Monahan/Bennett. McDavid is a generational talent at C.

Well what I said was kind of tongue in cheek and of course McDavid would be nice but I don't think we really need him.

I understand what you said was tongue in cheek but McDavid is probably the closest player to Crosby so I am sure we can use him. Having said that, those are the kind of problems I would love to have and I wouldn't mind trading down to pick Noah Hanifin either.
Anyways, enough derailing of this thread. Jonas Hiller is good!

I think Eichel will be a better player and team mate but they will both be good. Having a glut of young blue chip centers is a problem the Flames would love to have.

Yep. And how many goalies have never been guilty of throwing their team under the bus?

There are lots of good defenseman in the 2015 draft. We could possibly pick up Kylington or Werenski if we barely miss the playoffs. The top 15 picks are going to be good.
