People can say "oh it's only a 3rd rounder", but that's such a frivolous way to think of the draft. We drafted Gaudreau in the middle of the 4th round, the Calder runner up was drafted in the 7th.
how about you let the guy play a game....I have high hopes for Gaudreau but you can't build a team of Gaudreau's

The draft is won in rounds 2-7, and the Flames don't seem to understand that.

...people just love to be negative.

There's a lot of positivity around our organization right now...how about you try smiling for once?
Negative Koolaid is just as strong...maybe stronger than the positive variety

and we gave up zero assets for him.

KC, I think he means that because he was undrafted then we could have gotten the same thing as him for nothing.

Obviously paid professionals feel differently.

We know what we are getting with Bollig.

Is this not the forum that goes after Oilers fans for drinking the Lowe koolaid? Suddenly things change when it goes against what the Flames do?

So yeah, I guess when I disagree, I'm just an idiot and should accept whatever the Flames do despite drafting very poorly in rounds 2-7 over the last three drafts.

For those thinking Bollig is just a plug just take a look at the flames goal stats last year. Only 10 players on the flames roster had more goals than him (7).

He's not going to be lining up for staged fights or taking on the other teams main goon, that's Grats' job.

His job will be to provide energy by laying down hits (33rd in league past year) while being able to answer the bell if need be.

He didn't put up decent numbers for the Sharks and that was with time playing with Thornton.

Sorry for being a dissenting voice in a forum that doesn't appear to like it.
Dissent all you want but repeating this is a waste, this is awful, if you like it you are driniking kool aid and making up lies isn't dissenting it is being an over the top baby.

Yup, free NHLers are just so easy to find, especially with 3rd round picks. Might as well go and acquire picks 61-90!!!

How can you make that as a definitive statement? We're talking about players drafted in the last three years? Not every player is going to be Ashasx NHL ready... Some players are projects, and require a little bit of time and patience...

Seems like a waste of a 3rd round pick, the Blackhawks didn't even want this guy. Isn't Wesgrath enough? Curious what Treliving's reasoning is...

Would rather draft size....

So why do you want the Flames to build a team just like the Oilers are? A guy like Bollig is exactly what both teams need.

He's not just a 4th line plug. Think along the lines of a bigger Bouma. Hits more, scores more, fights better. Who here doesn't like Bouma?

The price was higher than anyone would have liked but at the end of the day we're a better team than we were before the trade, and I personally didn't have much hope of getting a solid prospect in the 3rd round this year.

yeah, sarcasm is always appreciated.

the point was that these types of players are always available on the FA market and that you don't have to give up assets in order to get them.

Mcgrattan was also a FA signing on his first spell with Calgary...

so there are plenty of examples of similar players that have been acquired for nothing.
