I think the writing is on the wall for Hartley. It seems he has the blessing of Burke to get the team to the "running" phase. But I doubt sincerely he's the man for the sprint phase. But at least the man is secure for the time being. Though I don't like some of his in-game decisions, he is seemingly relentless in game preparation and training. Good stuff for early on in the rebuild.

I think Hartley's been a good coach.  It's just that I think most of us are trying to see the Flames sprint when they're in the crawling phase right now.  And we want to the team to rebuild overnight.  Ain't gonna happen.  Since the Flames traded away their only franchise player and lost the other through retirement, the team needs to restock for the next few years for a complete rebuild.  It's really wishful thinking that they can make the playoffs by next year and it'd be a crappy rebuild if they do make it in or just on the outside looking in since they've  also done that for so many painful years.  Do it right and we'll get to enjoy a lot more glory years.  Do it wrong and they'll become like the Oilers.
