Poor Scrivens. He had no chance on 3 of 4 goals. Oilers defence is just horrible.

But one was totally his fault. Went right through him.

So confused about what the wife tweeted that warranted an article about it? She's a beautiful, young rich girl back home in LA and loving life as her tweets reflect. Can you blame her? Whoever started this is an absolute bitter dickhead.

Plus, they can go live wherever the frig they want in the offseason during that time.

So even if you understand the marriage / couple dynamic, the both of them would be idiots to throw away that opportunity because she doesn't like Edmonton.
Thank God they have you to tell them how to make decisions.

Why can't they choose where to live once he is a free agent?

Are you suggesting that Edmonton is his only opportunity? If so then it isn't much of a career, but it will probably be an easy decision for them since Edmonton is no worse than most AHL cities.

That's some impressive skills you're showing in how to see the world through other peoples' eyes.

By the sounds of it, the Oilers see him as their back-up and plan to go big game goalie hunting in the free agent market (or possibly earlier via trade).

Scrivens will probably attract some attention within the league as a UFA in the back-up role and given the choice, I could see him looking elsewhere dependent on who the #1 is and what kind of money the team is offering.

Different story if the Oilers were to hand him the #1 spot, as I don't believe that opportunity is coming from anywhere else. Then he stays, gets them to lock him up long term and cashes in. I just don't see that happening yet in his career.

God I hope both Bryz and Scrivens find work somewhere else next year. And somehow Edmonton doesn't get McDavid.

It seems the population of Edmonton is always looking to blame the wives of players who don't sign there. Jenny is down to earth, smart, charitable and supportive of her husband's career. She immediately got involved with youth hockey upon her arrival by coaching a girls hockey team. She grew up about an hour from Los Angeles, why wouldn't she be excited to move back home? My goodness, it's been 80 degrees here this winter, who wouldn't prefer that to bitterly cold temperatures? This is just another Edmonton witch hunt preparing for Scrivens departure at the end of the season.

I can't believe they haven't upgraded the talent of their blueline. With all their moves to date, and with all their apparent 'weapons' up front that could be moved for NHL players, this is single-handedly the most baffling thing to me.

MacT promised bold moves but so far all talk no action. He has made 7 trades and most were pretty mediocre fringe moves. If he is going to make a bold trade that means one of Eberle, Hall, Nuge, Yak, 2014 1st have to be on the way out

Then they should just... do it.

It kills me to say this, but the Oilers do have the assets needed to bring a a quality defenseman in. A player like Tyler Myers is someone they should be absolutely targeting. Even Dan Girardi would be a good target if they could get him re-signed.

Maybe I'm being to logical here, who knows.

It was a classic Oiler move. Big promises... and then nothing. After the trade deadline we can all appreciate the 'we tried' press conference.

Now that Ekblad is in sight, MacT is going to sit on his hands and wait for the draft. I really hate that franchise.

Not to give the Oilers too much of an excuse but how much can they really expect to receive for their top assets, it would be awful management to rush into making a move at the current time. Yakopov is looking more and more like a talented kid, but still a kid. I don't think that trading him now is going to net a big enough return to make it a worthwhile trade. Hall is likely the only player with much heart on the team at the current time, he is the player that they need to build around.

I think that the Oilers' problems is that they have sucked when the players who were available via the draft were either not very good and that they haven't had a really great pick from anything other than the first round in nearly a decade. I know that there is not much point in looking into the past but those 2 for 1 drop down in the draft picks rarely seem to work out well for the team dropping. Look at 2003 and the Oilers, they dropped down and got nothing of substance.
