Kadri is good but I don't think he will fill out enough to become truly great and that size also brings up an issue when thinking of the western conference style of play. I would rather stay away especially considering the probable cost.

The Flames and Toronto have done it twice.

Yes, the coach was playing your best centre on the 3rd line, and eventually drove him off the team. He is now being paid a boatload of money by the Leafs to perform very well for another team, while the Leafs are desperate for centremen.

And it looks like the same coach is about to drive your best prospect off the team too. Good times.

And the Leafs are too stacked on the wing to have room for Cammalleri? The only player on the Leafs with more goals per game than Cammalleri is Kessel. And that's completely ignoring the fact that Cammalleri is probably a better centre than anyone else on the Leafs except Bozak, and even that's pretty close (I know, I know, "Bozak has performed at very a high level for over a dozen games this season, and so despite turning 28 this year and having a career high of 18 goals, he's undeniably become an elite player...")

God**** I hate the Leafs.

So Grabovski was better than Kadri? LOL. Kadri had 44 points in 48 games. Grabovski was indeed the 3rd best centre in Toronto last season. And the Leafs are "Desperate" for a centre due to injuries. Not for lack of talent.

Again, the Leafs have no need for Cammaleri. Kessel, JVR, Lupul are all better.

Yes, and he was the best centre is Toronto for years prior to that, and now that he is on another team he is still better than any centre in Toronto.

Carlyle hated Grabovski, and absolutely buried him, with the toughest line match-ups, and absolutely brutal zone-starts (36%).

On the other hand Kadri was the most sheltered player on the Leafs, faced the weakest line match-ups of any centre, and started 48% of his shifts in the offensive zone.

You could put a rubbermaid garbage bin at the dot in the offensive zone with MacArthur, and it's going to get more points than whoever is getting 36% zone starts playing with Jay "worst Corsi player in the entire NHL" McClement.

We saw the *exact* same situation with Stajan in Calgary. When a coach buries a player that badly, no amount of talent can dig him out. Coach is gone, miraculously Stajan is the best centre on the team again. Grabovski leaves, miraculously he's once again better than any other Leafs centre. Magic!

Sure, I mean when you're 23rd in the NHL in regulation wins, and are playing below .500 hockey (having given away more points than you've gotten), you don't want to mess with that kind of success.

I don't know about "attitude problem", but Kadri has been showing some maturity and intelligence problems at times this year. i.e.: his multiple head-shot game against Minnesota that earned a suspension. He was actually well on his way to becoming a dirty player earlier this year, but haven't heard or seen too much since, so he's probably toned that down.

Why in the ever loving hell would we want Clarkson? Take a bad contract that expires in this year or next? Absolutely. But this team simply can't afford to hang such a long-term albatross around its neck. That piece alone scuttles the entire deal.

That's the scary thing. We all know full well how well it works out for us when we make trades with Toronto out of desperation.

The Flames and Leafs had never made a 10 player trade that involved draft picks.

They have made a 10 player trade once. In the early 90s during a different era worn no salary cap.

You said twice. Please give examples.

Why does he have to great for us to trade for him? He's 23 and already has put up really good numbers in the NHL. He is 6' tall and 190 pounds. I don't see why he can't fill out a bit more and be 6' and 205. He already plays with an edge and a bit more weight would certainly help.

And what cost wouldn't be worth it? Seriously. There isn't a single player in our organization who would be and should be untouchable when making a trade for Nazem Kadri. He has accomplished more than anyone of our prospects and has a higher ceiling than any one of them. The overrating of our prospects and players is sad when we have a chance to get a player like Kadri but are too scared to give up one of our prospects who are still miles away from being an NHLer let alone a player that Kadri has already become.

Grabovski was terrible last year. End of story. He was not better than a centre who had 44 points in 48 games. Kadri and Bozak were clearly better.

Grabovski would never do what he's doing in Washington on the Leafs.

Are you saying you would include Monahan in a deal for Kadri? Monahan has done more at 18/19 that Kadri has. Sven has done more by 21 than Kadri had as well

B.S. Are you saying Monahan does not have a higher ceiling than Kadri?

I believe he means that Monahan at 19 has accomplished more than Kadri had at 19, which is true.

I'm not saying that Kadri doesn't have flaws, but those things can be worked on. Jarome Iginla used to drive Brian Sutter crazy when he was a young player before he matured.

The fact Kadri seems to be falling out adheres to the "buy low" philosophy that we should be trying to follow.

As a side note, and file this under Orange Julius if you want, but Carlyle has a bit of a reputation for being jerk even away from the rink (I know someone in the service industry who works somewhere where Carlyle frequents and apparently he is a rude customer and never tips). I know the default position when a player and coach clash is to assume the coach is right, but occasionally the coach really is just a prick. Just something to consider. (I am not saying that he isn't an effective coach though).

Pretend you're not a Flames fan. Who do you think would get the bigger package if traded right now, Kadri or Monahan? If you think Monahan then you're a pretty big homer.
