"This is a very talented group of hockey players that are going through a very bad stretch." - 630 CHED guy.
Maybe they aren't that talented.

At some point shouldn't Kevin Lowe quit if Katz won't fire him just for the good of the franchise.

There will be fewer feet in Edmonton. Sad, indeed.

Hey, if I was a little younger and a little thinner, maybe I could get with that chick on the cover of Maxim. Could happen.

This is from the Oilers board.. so no idea if accurate.. but hilarious if it is:
Quote:
The oilers have been shut out 4 times at home this season and have scored one goal in another 5 games, this is out of 17 games.

What I don't understand is why there looked to be a full house still after 5 min of the 3rd period. This was over after the 2nd STL goal.

You can see the frustration finally coming through in the media. We've had to endure years of them telling us that the oilers will be a powerhouse and that "this is their year". Looks like they are finally catching on to the fact that they are a bad team who will continue to be bad.
I'm sick of them being called a high power offence or a highly skilled forward group... If that was the case, they would actually score a lot of goals.

You know, the usual.
They’re frustrated and need to be more consisted and use their speed against big teams and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

The Oilers were booed off the ice by the fans again, who seem to think
“Once it’s four or five nothing you can see the frustration of the fans,” said former Blue David Perron. “If I was sitting in the stands I might be doing the same or probably worse. What is it, six in a row now? There are a lot of things that aren’t going well.”

“The biggest thing I see in our game right now, the thing that separates us from good teams, is we’re not on the same page. We don’t play like a team. It’s been like that in too many games.”

The mistakes are simple to correct. The owner needs to sell the team and the new owner needs to clean house. Really that's where it has to start. Katz, Lowe and the alumni need to be shipped out. Katz is the new Al Davis/Jerry Jones of the NHL and I love it.

I usually don't watch an entire Oilers game, but I did tonight. They are embarrassingly bad. It's quite incredible actually. For anyone thinking they might make some noise this year or even come close to the playoffs is such a joke.

One of the problems (among many) is that the top picks they have that many consider to be 'the core' may simply just not be that good. Just because they were top picks doesn't mean they will all turn out to be superstars.
Hall has great speed and can generate excitement, but he has the hockey IQ of a chestnut. Eberle is a decent player but just too inconsistent. RNH is a solid playmaker, but just way too soft and looks like he doesn't really have a care in the world. Yakupov looked like a bad pick at the time, now it looks far worse. He might not even be in the NHL within 5 years. Justin Schultz has shown he is just a mess in his own zone for the most part, and if he can't light it up on the PP he is pretty much useless.
Too much hype from the organization and media. These players just aren't as good as advertised.

Well said... Even look at all the drafts over the past 10 years. I'd say the ones that the oilers drafted first overall were the worst picks (aside from maybe Johnson with St. Louis).

Not the coaches fault says Eakins
Quote:
“It’s like we love misery,” said Eakins. “I’ve had enough misery already and we have some players who have been here for a number of years. They have to be done with it. There has to be a change in the commitment level and the accountability — not from me but from within the room. That’s where it has to start.
“If it doesn’t start in there, this is just going to continue. It just will. I can sit guys out. I can yell at them, you can do all these things as a coach but you need guys in the room really holding each other accountable and not looking the other way.”
