I'm happy about the pyroblast and blood imp nerfs. Those cards were so frustrating to play against.

The Warlock has three very strong 1-cost minions and that made the Warlock rush deck slightly stronger than we were comfortable with.

Doh. I loved my warlock rush deck.

Overall though, I like the changes this patch, and the fact they're continuously trying to monitor things and keep a balance between the classes. Most of the changes they're making are either things I've been using because they seemed overpowered, or things that I kept getting used against me and I'd complain about. So they're on the right track.

I realized I hadn't actually signed up for the beta around christmas and set up my account for it, but I've been checking my gmail regularly and haven't seen any invites. Was I too late to get in on this before they open it up?

I read this morning that everyone opted in before Jan 7 was getting in today but I can't find the source

Well, everyone who opted in before January 7th will be getting in some day. That day might be today.

Seems like they might not be sending emails anymore, just go to your BattleNet account and see if you have it.

But I don't think you were! Everyone who opted in by Dec 16th was supposed to have got an email by Dec 19th, AND everyone who opted in by Jan 7th is supposed to have their account flagged with access (which was previously stated would all be done in a single wave which has apparently at least started).

From the forums, general consensus is that's the only really viable warlock deck now, since they've nerfed minion spam and demon decks.

For the most part though, it's not just the only warlock deck I'm seeing, it's the only deck I'm seeing. The meta is more monotonous now than at any other time since I got into the beta.

Had a bunch of gold saved up, so I figured maybe its time to try the arena again. Went a combined 1-9

Been having a bit more fun in constructed, love playing Warrior decks. I'm not a great deckbuilder so I often find a deck online and tweak it. Here's what I started with:

This is a rushdown deck with the key combo being Windfury Harpy, Charge, Inner Rage x 2 for 16 damage on turn 6. So ideally you want to do 14 damage before then. All other cards are for damaging to the enemy player, drawing cards or breaking down taunt walls. Warsong Commander can also enable the combo on turn 9.

Given this was made back in November and patches have affected the cards somewhat, here's what I made:

-Charge is now 3 cost, so the combo cannot be pulled off until turn 9, but its still useful giving +2 atk. Kept them.

-Dropped the Flesheating Ghoul because you need board control to get the most out of it, and in rushdown you are likely giving up the board to your opponent. Swapped it with a Raging Worgen.

-Dropped one Warsong Commander since it got nerfed but still has its uses with the Berserkers and Raging Worgen. Replaced with another Raging Worgen.

-Swapped the Acolyte of Pains with Shield Blocks. I don't have any Acolytes in my collection yet, and although Shield Block seems counter to a rushdown strategy I figure its worth it for the additional card draw. Getting 5 armor also helps as I'm usually taking a fair bit of damage.

Its taken me awhile to get used to rushdown strategy because my first instinct is to always keep control of the board. I've had way too many matches with this deck where I patiently kept the board under control but did little damage to the player, resulting in a drawn out marathon slugfest because I have no high cost late game minions. Prioritizing damaging the player has had better result.

tl;dr: rushdown decks are fun.
