If that's the going rate for a player like Clarkson I'd rather not see him signed. He should honestly be making no more than a Glencross type contract which I would love to see him signed to for the next 3 years.

For UFA's I don't think I want too much accept for a vet center for a few years to help usher in the new kids.

With regards to the direction I'd be happy with I'll us Clarkson as a starting point to what I would love to see:

Sign him to 3 years 12 million deal and go with

Sign Weiss to a 3 year 15 million deal to have a Vet presence at center for the
next few years for Backlund/Monohan

Trade Cammalleri and/or Stempniak for help at top 4 D, would love a package deal to a team like the Islanders who could really use a boost to the 2nd line top 6 --

To NYI

Cammy + Stemp + 2nd 14 + 3rd 15 + Grandlund

To CGY

2014 or 2015 1st (Islanders Choice at 14 draft) + Hamonic + De Haan

Deal away/Demote Jackman, Smith, Stajan, Blair Jones

A line of Baertschi - Filppula - Hudler would ooze with so much skill it's not even funny

I'm not saying we have to or even need to but the following UFA's in no particular order are the only players I'd like Feaster and Co. to sign from free agency

Mason Raymond
Benoit Pouliot
Peter Mueller
Matt D'Agostini
Keaton Ellerby
Jonathon Blum
Kaspars Daugavins
Clarke MacArthur
Viktor Stalberg
Tyler Bozak
Jeff Schultz
Mark Fistric
Matt Hendricks
Mike Santorelli (2way only)
Jack Skille (2way only)
Chris Summers (2way only)
Allen York (2way only)
Colten Teubert (minor league contract)
Ian Schultz (minor league contract)

A bit surprised at the pretty much no interest in Roy.

I suppose he's undersized and not a legitimate first line center. But this is a guy who just turned 30 who had 1 bad season coming off an injury shortened season. Before that it was looking like he could pencil him in for a point-per-game and wouldn't be too far off. I suppose that he's not completely different than Cammalleri, except that he actually plays center.

If they're going into the season without a true top line center, let's face it - they are, then I'd be much more happy with Roy on it than Cammalleri.

We need a scoring right winger. Our right wing depth is awful. Brunner would be a perfect fit if we could land him.

I would rather see Backlund and Knight get legit playing time this year than sign a medicore #2C like Bozak. Unless the plan somehow involves moving Stajan. I fear the signing of another #2 center would signal the end of Backlund's time with the Flames. Where would he fit in?

My boss is a Red Wings fan and he hopes Detroit does not re-sign Filpula. He wants no part of him back n Detroit, says he is over-rated and not worth anything close to his supposed asking price of 5+ million per.

Dude, Milbury left ages ago and even he wouldn't touch this.

You want a 22 year old potential top pairing defenseman, a 1st round pick and another good prospect for Cammalleri and Stempniak?

Would you trade 1st + Brodie + Sieloff for Cammalleri and Stempniak?

Hamonic showed during the playoffs that he could be the Islanders top defender as early as this up-coming season. He's probably more "untouchable" than Brodie even with the Islanders' impressive depth of defenseman prospects.

Feaster said that there was little to no interest in Cammalleri, if he could have packaged him with Stempniak for a future 1st he would have done it. Now I expect Cammalleri and Stempniak might hold some more value after free agency and teams didn't get their targets and are left with holes. In that case maybe a team like the Islanders would be willing to move some assets for them.

If they have the cash for Cammalleri, which might not be the case as Cammalleri's salary is 7M, or if they needed a cheaper contract player like Stempniak I could see them moving a defenseman prospect not named Reinhart, Pulock, Pokka or Donovan for one of them, but that's about it without the Flames adding.

He strikes me as the kind of player that would compliment a good team, but not one that a struggling or rebuilding team could count on to play an important role on.

It's not the money that scares me though, as much as the term and likely NMC that will come with it.

Yeah, just what we need another soft LW. Just because we have the money to spend doesn't mean we need to.

Filppula will be UFA tomorrow. We'll see what happens, if Flames wants him, they need to overpay on a long contract.

Oh joy.

Although I think we were in on him when he was originally a free agent.

Just what we need... Stajan 2.0.

Why do I get the feeling that the recent love for Mr Feaster is about to come to a screaming halt?

Feaster better be getting rid of some contracts if true. Right now i only see space for Sven and 50/50 Monahan. If Feaster gets more players from UFA, they are pretty much doing what they have done in the past by getting veterans, albeit younger veterans, instead of giving some of the youngsters from the farm a chance. Horak really deserves a spot or at least a chance at a spot.
