Feaster should be grilled for giving "parttime" Tanguay the contract in the first place without extending Iginla first. Not getting grilled now. Not a bad deal to get a whiner off our team.

So you think Tanguay would've played well enough to get a 2nd round pick? Hmm...the same Tanguay who only seemed to put up points whenever Iginla was around? The same guy who was barely holding into an NHL job just a couple of years ago? The same guy who when all his friend were traded, instead of stepping up, he gave up? He may have got you a 2nd at next years deadline. Or he would've bottomed out so badly, he'd be waiver material.
Besides, if Tanguay could've got a 2nd rounder this deadline, why not pull the deal? It was clear he wasn't going to be in their plans.
I think in the end, the guy is worth a lot of less than you think.

I have no problem with this. Tangs was done here in Calgary and Sarich can hardly play the level anymore. Neither are big losses imo. Jones will be good. Fans will like him right away.

You really think that in 3 years time we're gonna be any worse off than having a 37 year old Tanguay, saving $500K on the cap?

Exactly. Now, 27 goal scorers, that's a different story. Oh wait...
Not saying he'll get back to 27 goals, but why not take his whole body of work and not just one shortened season.

Needs to be repeated
Rebuilding teams make trades like this, for the right reasons.

I get why some might not like the trade, ( i like it), but to think that Tanguay's worth would be a 2nd or 3rd round pick at the last or this years deadline are out to lunch. His contract was for to many years.
If Feaster could have gotten a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Tanguay at this years draft he would have.

Great job Jay, love the determination to finally get that elusive top 5 pick, because you can't possibly think SOB and David Moss 2.0 are upgrade to any team.

Well at least when we lose now SOB can cheapshot some ass before the game is over. Rather than helping other team players up after they run our goalies like Wideman and Brodie..... haha that was ridiculous

Unless Jones can regain his speed (unlikely) and decides to play physical again, then this is a horrible trade.

He secured two additional first round picks in a crazy good draft year, and then stole Corban Knight for a 4th rounder, after moving Henrik Karlsson for a 6th round pick.
And he did this with players that either had No Movement Clauses stupidly given out by this organization in the past or had negative value because they couldn't make the team.
I've had no problem with the returns he's managed to land, considering the circumstances.

Is he a 6 goal scorer or a 27 goal scorer?
Probably somewhere in between no?
Your overreaction in this thread has been hilarious. Obviously you don't know much if anything about Jones.

For those upset with this, what did you want back. I couldn't get Tanguay off this team fast enough, he has 0 role with the new direction this team is going and is a momentum killer with his east west dipsy doodles all day long.
As many say, Flames got younger and bigger with this deal. This isn't the save the franchise move, but it's a solid minor deal. Anyone expecting Tangs and Sarich would have given us anything more had seriously missplaced expectations. I would have been happy if Feaster bought Tanguay out, this is much better.
