Brett and Brandon got extremely close to a violent tornadic circulation that produced multiple tornadoes in very close range... The team was hit by inflow jet winds into the tornado and their vehicle received damage as a barn was completely destroyed. A hay bale came barreling across the road and was tossed into their car.. The team is very fortunate to live to chase another day... Incredible storm chaser traffic prevented an escape from the tornado like normal.. There have been fatalities with this tornado.. The team's thoughts go out to those affected!

Dude when it comes to the Canucks, it could be a team of Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot, Augusto Pinochet, Josef Stalin and Kim Jong Il and if one of them scores against the Canucks you take it.
Family in both Canadian and Blaine counties. Hope they are ok. Where did the fatalities occur? Stay safe Nick.

tornado warnings here and all over south, central Illinois, and eastern Missouri (St. Louis area). Apparently, a tornado touched down in St. Charles, just east of St. Louis; wife has extended family in that town
Lightning strikes all around me; one blew up a neighbors 40-50 year old oak tree; crazy light show, driving rain, 60-70 mph winds, flash floods
Location: Oklahoma - Where they call a puck a ball...

Well I'm born and raised okie ... My wife isn't.. We are moving to Calgary bc my wife wants to go home. I must say the prospect of no tornados sounds awesome right now but the prospect of -0 weather and driving in snow isn't that appealing .

Stat safe buddy .. If you're not familiar .. If you have a basement go there... if not Middle of the house , lots of blankets pillows mattresses ( if you can ) over the top of your head. Wear a helmet and/or cover your head in a direct hit.

heh...when i was with the team in Asheville all those years ago, Bettes was the local TV weather guy so i knew him a bit through media functions etc....nice guy and glad to hear he is ok. He always wanted the weather network/national tv stuff, and has been at it for a few years now....and IIRC he specializes in storm chasing.
Glad to see you are OK nicker....this stuff is just unreal.
For all the terror and damage these things cause, I'd still love to see one. l miss prairie storms, but these are on another level entirely. There's such a fearsome beauty about them.
The CNN background with the flashing lightning in the background is so cheesy. People are dying, they should act like a news source, not circus sideshow.
Glad you're ok nick............this is brutal stuff.

There isn't no tornadoes, we do get some in Alberta, but usually there are only a handful a year province wide that actually touch down.
For example 7 tornadoes were reported in 2012 in Alberta, the total damage caused was a power outage for a part of a town, a roof being ripped off, some farm damage and some uprooted trees. In 2011 there were less than that, the only damage being to a riding area. Then I see 3 reported from 2010, all small ones too.
this one from 2004 is the last I can find listed as anything other than "small", an F0 or F1. it is listed as "large".

Alberta_beef I understand what you're saying but we have had over 7 in the last week in Oklahoma. 7 in a year that are that small seems like something I'd definitely rathe deal with.
And to flylock shox you're right , tornados are incredible. As a younger guy I always used to want to chase them and watch them etc.. As I have gotten older and realized how powerful they are and how much destruction they cause I have learned to not mess around with them. I'm actually quite tired of them to be honest. They are really cool to watch when they are out in the country not endangering people but sadly to many of them this year have hit heavily populated areas.
