Well the he was there for the taking when the Flames took Jankowski. I think right now I would feel a lot better with Maatta in the pipeline but that could change if Jankowski accelerates what has been pretty slow developement to date.

Anyone know the Erie ownership situation? Any chance they buy McDavid from them or just intimidate/threaten them enough to force them to give them to London?
What? How exactly do they threaten/intimidate to get players once they are already in the league.

Erie's ownership situation is terrible and I was surprised McDavid ever agreed to go there in the first place. But I doubt he's traded at this point since he's already there and will be there for two more years.

Getting players to refuse to report by paying kids/parents, bad mouthing the other organizations, pressuring kids to only agree to go to them and then making crap deals to get the guys cheap.

Nice baseless accusations, they must be pretty good at not exposing it to anyone except the Hunters, since my girlfriend worked right under Jim McKellar for 2 years and from her mouth has said she never once saw or heard any whispers even of the stuff you are accusing the Knights of doing.

Its isn't like I am accusing the Moose Jaw Warriors or Owen Sound Attack of these types of things. It is fairly common knowledge around junior circles and I don't think London the only guys doing crap like this either.

I also doubt that their is a ton of chat about it around the offices or that they are going to get your girlfriend to drop off 100,000 dollars off to Patrick Kane's parents either.

I agree that they do things like that leading up to the draft - Max Domi and Scott Harrington are two guys they got that way. But once the players in the league they aren't running around telling guys to ask for trades.

I wouldn't put anything past those scumbags.

Especially after it looks like they failed to buy their way to another championship and bought their way into next years cup.

Jumping up from a league with poor coaching and systems work, into a league playing against not only much more talented players but players who are in many cases fully grown men, and getting just over .5ppg in the process is not what I consider slow development. Providence is also not a deep team. They are fairly inept offensively, especially when compared to some of the powerhouses like BC. Add to Mark's 'explosion' in growth and him probably needing to take some time getting used to it, while being rail-thin because of it, I would say he had a great year.

I think it is fair to criticize the pick for being a bit of a risk, but for developing slowly? Not sure what you're expectations were for him to begin with. The NCAA isn't a very high-scoring league, and if you were able to watch a couple of his games that were available, you would see a raw but very slick player out there.

Jankowski's development has been anything but slow. You show true ignorance with this remark.

I really think Wotherspoon is going to be an NHL player. I've been watching him this tournament and his decision making is good. He gets a ton of icetime out there and he allows other players like Jones to have more freedom because he's so reliable.

Petan is a fantastic skater and he has good stick skills. I'm more intrigued by him after watching him so far in tonight's game.

Ferland just hit a guy into the bench. He's a beast out there.

Announcers speculate that Ferland may win a spot as early as next season -- I doubt that.

Wotherspoon is my pick for the Roman Horak trophey of making the team out of training camp this year.

Ferland needs to redeem himself in Abbotsford first. Once he gets going down there, maybe he gets his shot in the latter part of the season.

Ron Sutter was also talking about it on the FAN today, saying that he's looking forward to seeing him in Abbotsford next year or, it wouldn't surprise him if he's on the big club if he continues his improvements with fitness and diet that the Flames have been mentoring him with since he was drafted.

Leier got absolutely crushed trying to toe-drag around Thrower. No call despite the contact to the head. He was out when he hit the ice, you could see his face scraping as he slid along.

Could have been a call, but I think that is tough on the D. He was trying a move and the D caught him.

I honestly don't see Ferland getting much more beyond a cup of coffee. I had my hopes up for him, but I just don't see it.

Very ugly looking hit. Didn't look like it was his intent and I feel for his as a Dman having to adjust a hit that's already started when someone tries to toe drag but the point of contact was the head.

I don't like it but he should be gone from the game.

I guess if the Blades can't win with skill they can try to cheap shot their way to wins.

That was a dirty hit.

Pffftttt.... whatever team goes through tonight (Portland or Sask), Halifax will stomp over them like they did with the London Knights.

Not sure if you seen the Blades beat Halifax the other night. Halifax seemed to have some big issues with Saskatoons size.

Add to that Makarov. If they make it and he plays a good game theres a good chance Saskatoon to win it.

Yeah, I didn't watch the game but was a bit surprised. I still stand by my word through, hopefully the Blades or the Winterhawks prove me wrong.
