I think this spells the end of the Tortorella era in New York.

Rangers gave away the series, Torts should be fired in the next few days.

how did they give away the series they were beaten by a much better team.
They had to force OT to avoid being swept. I don't see that is giving away a series. They were outplayed, out PP, out PK the whole series.
The Ranger's relied on Lundquist to carry them through this series it wasn't going to happen.

The Rangers need 2 more lines, more depth 4-6th on D and another coach to beat Boston in a 7 game series.

It was a pre-season bet lol. I had a bet with some obnoxious bandwagon Rangers fans after the Nash trade. 600$ between the three of them if Rangers don't advance past 2nd round. I had $300 if they did.

The Pens will have their hands full with the B's, but I think Pens in 6. My Jeckyl side of me wants the B's to win and remind Iggy how he choose Pittsburg over Boston and us getting two lame prospects out of it vs Bartkowski and Khochlachev. That was a lame trade and we could of got a better return for Iggy- rental or not. If Iggy had Boston on the list like he did, he should of been loyal to it. A little off topic, sorry, I'm still choked about that. As much as I wish Iggy success, I wish it didn't come at the cost of the franchise's future and I don't think one player deserves to be put on a pedestal over a team's future plans- it's a business in the end, it's not a sympathy contest.

^^ when Iggy decides to accommodate the Flames' request to leave, his interest in the Flames can have bounds.

If he is on another team, that is his team and I don't expect him to score on his own net against the Flames

I hope Iggy gets the Cup he wants.

What ? Number one, I'm sure Iggy wanted to leave the sinking ship just as much as the Flames didn't want him to leave the team as a UFA for absolutely nothing. I think it was a mutual plan hense it being hush hush until it happened. I did not at all suggest he scores on his own net or have some kind of undying loyalty to the Flames. Thats just silly. What I said was is that there was a list of teams he would accept a trade to- incl Boston, and we had a good deal on the table with 2 good prospects vs 2 college kids from the States who dont even compare and could of have of of been 2 good young talents to have from Boston. He choose to nix that trade and force one with Pitts where the return sucked. Was it better than nothing, I guess, but the fact that he didn't care about our return for his own personal opinion as to who will go all the way and wants to be there kinda sucks. My opinion is this- Just because a player has played for many years, put up great points, doesn't give them a right to be traded to wherever they want because they deserve a Cup. It's not a god given right. Many players have played this game who where great and never won a cup- Many great players stayed loyal to their team regardless of their personal motives- everyone wants a Cup. I respected the guy cause he was our face of the franchise and was loyal and I hope he gets his cup, I'm just choked that it came at the expense of us getting crap in return.

I get your point cowtown75, but if teams are going to hand out NTC and NMC they should be willing to honour them.

Why are players like Mats Sundin and to a lesser degree Jarome Iginla being criticized for using a clause that was given to them by their own teams.

In fact, I would like to see more players with NTC/NMC tell their GM to shove it. Then maybe they would stop handing them out like they are Halloween candy. NTC for Anton Babchuck. Really?

I definately agree with you all the way, never have been a fan of any kind of no trade clause. I get the reasoning behind a player's perspective for security reasons and stability, but, it is a business and they as a player have to realize that things change, their performance can change, they might just turn out to be useless after the contract. Wish I could put a no movement clause on at work, be useless, and still get paid lol. Not saying they are all like that but I hope you get what I mean. But with the agents these days, and GM's like Sather it's not likely to change anytime soon.

You are probably right about that.

Ya, the return in the Iginla deal sucked, partly because Jarome was holding all of the cards.

But Jay Feaster did have some leverage. And that leverage was to simply not make the trade. The trade happened a full week before the trade deadline. If Feaster says no to that deal, Pittsburgh may have upped the offer. Also, as the deadline approached, Jarome may have changed his mind about Boston because he wouldn't be playing hockey in May for sure if the Flames didn't trade him.

The way I see it, Jarome was traded 3 years too late or three years too early. Could have gotten a huge return for him right after the Olympics, also could have extended him and traded him for the same garbage three years from now. Look at the return Jagr got.

Jarome should have been extended or traded last summer. The Flames clearly did not benefit from the "What's gonna happen with Jarome?" distraction all season. It was mismanaged in so many ways.

In 2011, Brad chose to sign with the Rangers against the advice of his agency. They certainly did not argue against New York, but they had laid out what they felt was a better fit with more money on the table. In the end, Brad wanted to be closer to P.E.I., so his parents and his grandfather could stay up and watch the games.
Was this Calgary? Does anyone recall if we offered more money than the Rangers? He certainly would have slotted into the #1 slot for next however many years.

Almost certainly it was Calgary. Some have selective memories on it, but the speculated offers from sources inside his agency suggested the Flames offered 64 million over 9 years frontloaded, the Kings offered 60 million over 9 years front loaded and the Rangers offered the same.

Richards chose the east coast offer.

At the season ticket holder summer 2011 information session, Feaster specifically said the Flames offered Richards more money than the Rangers (and Kings), and that Richards believed a line of him-Iginla-Tanguay would all produce over 100 points, but that he chose the Rangers beacuse of: less travel, closer to family and same time zone, and working with Tortorella (who now scratched him).
