What happened to the free swinging Jays? They're drawing walks and hitting singles.

I am drunk - what a horrible collapse to witness. Sour ending to a great week in Seattle!

He took a ball off the knee while Happ was warming up. Can't say I missed him.

Well they are winning with Thole in the lineup calling games and playing defense with little to no offense, so I'm fine with it. IMO we should have never gotten rid of Mathis. J.P. is also slumping terribly right now and when he does get an at bat he looks like he has no game plan other than swinging wildly at pitches out of the strike zone. At least Thole can bunt or hit and run to make a productive out.

If J.P. doesn't progress next year they need to find a different catcher. I don't care how many home runs he hits, the catcher needs to be a leader on the field and he doesn't show any signs of that
100% agree but AA already mentioned after the trade happened that Jeff Mathis was the last piece that Miami wanted for the huge off-season trade to go through.

Jays pitchers are really getting beat up. Top of the 5th and the A's are already up 9-3.

What else is new?

Still need to find some starting pitching for next season. I honestly think Dickey will be better next year, but nowhere near his Cy Young season. Buehrle will be dependable, and possibly better than he was this year, but not by much. Morrow is a wild card because he has trouble staying healthy. Happ was a decent 5th starter before his injury. Here's hoping he comes back strong next year. Johnson has a lot to prove and he might be back to start the year on a 1 year deal. Hutchison and Drabek should be able to step back into the starting rotation and provide average to slightly below average starting pitching. Is anyone else ready to step up? Is Romero capable of regaining his form? We'll see.

Rotation to start next season?
Dickey
Morrow* (Plan on missing at least a handful of starts)
Buehrle
Happ
Drabek
*Hutchison?

Johnson?
Romero?

That is a group that needs some help if they're going to contend.

Bullpen is good...not much needed there.

The offense is good. I would still like a guy that hits for decent average in the #2 hole, and hopefully that guy is Melky if he isn't too badly injured.

The defense needs help...mostly coaching since all the players have the tools necessary to be a good defensive group. 2nd base needs to be filled by someone who can make a big play or two and not be a liability. J.P. needs to figure out how to call a game, how to block a ball in the dirt, and how to throw out a runner...so basically he needs to learn how to catch. We need a legitimate backup catcher who can play a very good defensive game and also catch Dickey.

So next season they need to get better performances from the pitchers they DO still have, and find one more quality arm to slot into the #2 or #3 hole. Find a 2nd baseman who has a good OBP and plays great defense. And lastly...find someone to coach this team and get some better performances out of the talent.

Crap game tonight but Joey Bats dedicated the game to a 9 year old fan who lost his life last Sunday.

Darren Oliver just stinking it up in the 8th along with Bonifacio being terrible in leftfield combined with Reyes screwing up a relay throw and thats how you give up runs.

This team is mailing it in the rest of the way. They have enough talent to win, but will likely be .500 for their remaining schedule.

such a disappointing year.

Brutal.

I doubt Janssen could have been any worse.

18-31 in their own division guarantees any team last place in their division.

Starting pitching can only do so much when the Jays put up hitting performances like tonights.

Outmanaged by better managers on every team:

Maddon
Showalter
Farrell
Girardi
Gibbons

That's how they rank in my opinion and I don't think anyone would suggest that Gibbons would rank higher than 5th.
