Exactly. If he's already talking about retiring than just save the drama and retire. He has the right to retire and I would respect him more by doing that now.

To me it looks like he isnt going to play the last year of this contract, and I've felt that way since it was signed.
If he cannot leave his family for a month, I doubt he is 100% committed to the team at this time.

No doubt, how committed is Kipper to try and push this team into the playoffs right now followed by an extend run. That would cut into family time pretty significantly.

Kipper deserves to do whatever Kipper wants. I just can't ever get mad at the loveable goof.

I shall take off the homer glasses, and say it's a dick move by Kipper or by Kipper via his agent or whoever leaked this to prevent him being traded. Really no different then holding out while under contract - puts him in exactly the same boat in my eyes as Yashin, Niedewendyk, Tkachuk...

judging by that goal he let in, he's already thinking about it. I wouldn't doubt he's been thinking about this for a while and he might have been asked about it and he can't think clearly. If he were to retire after the game tonight, I'd respect him and his choices. I just wouldn't respect him if he said that and kept playing.

Suspend him for what? He hasn't done anything. If they trade him and he doesn't show up, then the other team would have grounds to suspend him.

If this is true, I respect his decision as an individual; however, I would prefer he retire now and let the Flames move on. We don't need this kind of attitude around the team.

With all the goalies we have in the system, I hope, and am glad, that Kipper will retire a Flame.

Exactly, which is why this is such a dick move, the Flames really have no recourse.

Kiprusoff's legacy forever tarnished by a Kypreos tweet. The age of internet hysteria in a nutshell.

I don't mind Kipper staying at all, especially with the fact his son is just over a week old. It'd be one thing having everything up in the air if everything is normal, but having a newborn makes a huge difference, and I for one wouldn't want to get traded either in that situation. It'd cause too much stress in an already stressful situation.

A week I do believe, please correct me if I need correcting. But damn if I had to move cities where I work in his position I would be pretty pissed.

Oh wow, he can't use his millions to move them with him?
Regardless on what side you are on from a Flames perspective, there is one easy way to look at this. If the Flames traded him tomorrow, which they have the right to do, and he chose not to show up to his new team. What does that make Kipper? No better than any of the other primadona players that have pulled that crap before him. Just another spoiled millionaire not willing to honor a multi million dollar contract. I personally thought he was better than that.
No sure how anyone can see it any other way if they remove their Flames glasses. If the Flames just traded for an asset who refused to report, oh the venom we'd see on here.

What do they care?
The worst anyone can do is not pay him, and that obviously doesn't matter to kipper.
If the flames were vindictive, they could suspend him I guess.
