Odds are they roll into deadline day 3 or 4 games under .500, 6-10 points out of a playoff spot, and 14-15th overall in the West. They've got some big assets they could easily move to contending teams, and by the sounds of things, no shortage of trading partners. And it just so happens it's a great draft year.
The next 10 days will be the ultimate test of the Flames' delusions.

3 games under seems optimistic, that is a 2-2-1 record. I would guess that 2-3 or 1-3-1 is more likely. I have the next 3 games as losses and not sure about the home game against the BJ's and then a loss to the Oilers on April Fools Day myself .

Feaster should try and get
-6th rounder for Sarich
-5-6th for Jackman
-3rd for Comeau
-2nd for Stempniak
-2nd for Backlund (to Detroit)
-3rd for cammalleri
-12 - 15 overall + 4th rounder for Bouwmeester

Another $10?
I'd love to see you bet on the Oilers.

Wow trading Backlund. The number one guy to trade is Iginla in my opinion. He has to be moved.

You can't be serious. Backlund is here to stay. He's one of the only 3 players who should be a guaranteed part of the future.
Cammalleri will get the Flames a 1st or a good prospect. He's still pretty young and can be a 30 goal scorer/70 point scorer.
Comeau will not get a 3rd.
Jackman will not get anything. I doubt Sarich will get anything.

Yeah, I would now. His value is higher than it will be if he stays in Calgary.
Iginla is past his trade deadline, unless you can convince a playoff team they need that final piece.
The Flames have missed trading him on a couple of occasions. This is the first season he won't pot 30+, possibly for the rest of his career if he stays.

Yeah, I wouldn't trade Backlund at all. As for Iggy, I agree he needs to go, but it's his call where or if he does, so it makes it tough. But even he has to realize he's on the Titanic right now. Might as well get out now and give yourself a chance to win somewhere else this season.
I'm not against keeping Bouwmeester, but with that price tag if the offer is solid you have to think about it.
I think Kipper is gone, too. After being hung out to dry by his coach and his teammates tonight I wouldn't be surprised if he let the Flames know he'd be more than happy with a trade. I think he's had enough.

I hope all three move on. If Iginla does not waive I would offer him a take it or leave it 4 year 8 million dollar contract in the offseason. If he takes it you have a 2 million dollar forward if he does not you are ahead in my opinion.

Man, Horcoff's deal is good for 4m and 3m over the next 2 seasons.
You wouldn't pay Iginla even 3 million/season?

What if they win every game before then?
This team is crazy. I could see them doing it.

I think optimism will return, if Calgary gets the number 1 pick (or top 3) but also gets some assets in return for Iggy et al.
Status quo is not working, and I think that's why people are frustrated.... No plan as far as regular fans can see

Ok, who is better, Havlat or Iginla?
Havlat is signed for another 2 seasons at 5m each.
Doan is 5.3 for another 3 full seasons after this one.
2 Million?
Really?

if the trade deadline comes and goes with nothing then I will be right on the flip out bandwagon...but just wait, this team is in a pretty good spot for some absolute fleecing's at the deadline and a top pick

He's saying if Iginla wants to retire a flame, he can.
But he's not going to do it at the expense of the franchise.
I agree with him.
I don't think I'd even offer him that contract. The time for Iginla on this Flames roster is over. Not to get him a cup or anything absurd like that, but because him being the team's captain and best player has been a failure and the situation isn't going to improve until someone else can take that mantle.

I dont want any of those players.
Iggy is going to want at least what Doan got and probably closer to $6 million a year. No thanks.

I do not think this team will improve with Iginla here, I would rather have the team get a new start with a new group. If he wants to stay in Calgary I would want him to take a massive hometown discount. I have no desire to have Iginla on the team anymore.
