My perception of the give a damn factor of the current roster is very low.

Remember backlund and baertshi will come back, Brodie is looking like a stud and that is our immediate future. Add bit pieces like hudler and wideman and this team has a decent base.

However the flames DO need to sell so this rebuild is about 2 years rather then 5. Start with iggy kipper. See if you can unload tanguay, cammy and cervenka for something. And with the lack of d in Philly, Detroit I could see someone over pay for a bouwmeester, or giordano. Honestly if we move these guys the flames could have 5 first round picks in the next 2 years. Not a bad way to start the build.

“We might not have the biggest team, but when you play as a team, you have to stick up for your teammates. And if it means you need to take a slap for the entire team or whether we go five guys, I think team unity is very important. We have a great group of guys, but we’re just not playing tough enough.”

Yep we knew this after STL, Van and PHX. These guys look like the Oilers with how they get manhandled. I called this and the score in the pre game thread. We look like a mediocre talented eastern team but that doesn't help you in this conference. I am not sure who is available they could trade for but they definitely need to get bigger.

Seriously this team is in need of a major heart transplant, I'm tired of lingering in mediocrity, I want a team that can be competitive with the best teams in the league. That will not happen with current personnel.

Frustrating to watch.

Iggy played great and deserved better.

Brodie and Stajan were fine, MacDonald was decent
The team couldn't make or receive a pass. So many bobbled pucks.
First 3 shots were identical. Off the right wing into the crest of Bernier.
Glencross is lazy. Awful compete and sense.
Cammalleri and Tanguay really struggled
Wideman was dopey all night.
Cervenka is not good enough without the puck. Deserved to be limited to 7 min by Hartley.
Horak looked like an AHL player.
Stempniak is streaky and when things aren't clicking he offers filler minutes.
I am not sure what Tim Jackman believes his job is. Ineffective.

Really bad game from a lot of key guys.

Could not believe my eyes when I saw this. Say what you want about lack of talent or anything like that, but just standing around after that happens shows that this team lacks heart and any thing resembling grit.

I'm sorry, but that boat left a couple years ago. Iginla and Kiprusoff no longer command that great a return, and Giordano would be a tough sell for great value the way he's been for at least a season and a half.

The Flames were at a crossroads as to rebuild or attempt a last couple chances at winning and Feaster hit "gun for the Playoffs" all the way. It was a fun ride, but now we live with the consequences.

The Flames are the smallest team in the league. Outside of Iginla and Jackman (who played 4 minutes) there wasn't another forward north of 200 while all the King's defenders, except Voynov, are 215+ pounds and that's with their big defender in Greene (230) on the IR. The Flames defensemen aren't much bigger, Bouwmeester being the only one north of 200 pounds.

A gritty team with 190 pound forwards is only going to last a period against 215 pound defenders. If Hartley's looking for a gritty team he's not on the same page as Feaster. Sure he just said grittier and I agree that the running of Flames goalies has become embarrassing but this shouldn't come as much as a surprise when you've swapped out Bourque, Jokinen and Hannan for Cammalleri, Hudler and Wideman. I'll take the latter any day of the week but that's a 25+ pound difference between each player.

Stajan and either Bouwmeester or Wideman are the most deserving of the A's, though I don't think Bouwmeester should ever be in a leadership role no matter how well he plays.

Yep, been saying it a lot this year. It sickens me how much this team reminds me of the Oilers (minus the youth), we have the same weakness; buttersoft. We're offensively skilled and fun to watch against offensive teams, but any bigger, more defensive team just eats us for breakfast.

I think I'm going to skip every Flames vs. LA/Phx/Stl game the rest of the year. That's a lot of 3-1 losses on deck.

it was such a shame to waste jarome's great effort on a line with tanguay and cammy last night...

hartley finally realized it and started juggling him in with other lines but no one else was going.

it's too bad comeau didn't have any ability, he could at least get the puck deep, even stajan was crashing last night (or blindly crashing into people)
