The taxpayers of LA will be paying not the moron cops that shot up the truck. They probably won't even be fired...
exactly. you fire multiple rounds at innocent civilians, seriously wounding them, without even stating that you're the police. that should be instant termination right there. but of course they'll be protected by the corrupt internal investigations and the worst they'll get is a nice vacation (paid suspension)

Do you have any facts to show that the LAPD internal affairs is so corrupt? Paid vacations? Dorner got found guilty of providing a false statement and got fired. But I guess that was just part of the bigger conspiracy right?
The LAPD have made huge blunders, had officers who have done terrible things and not done thorough investigations in the past. But those all made huge headlines and forced the department to modernize, be more accountable and change their way of business.
No one is denying they've made mistakes in the past but you have to give an organization a chance to redeem itself and earn back the trust of the city.
I'm so sick of armchair quarterbacks like yourself who just sit back, sling mud and call the entire police department corrupt. If there's an incident where the cops are in the wrong then they should be held accountable, but they should also be given the benefit of the doubt to do their job, which is to protect the people.

if they sentence the cop in that video to life in prison for murder and fire the officers involved in shooting civilians while chasing Dorner then i might start to think they've turned a corner. but do you honestly expect that either of those things will happen? the only way to make the LAPD or any other police department honest is to have an independent review board that has the power to expose their coverups. without that, their talk of change and cleaning up their image is just empty words
I've cast a blind hateful shadow towards an entire police force after reading and hearing multiple stories of how "they" treated civilians (You know, because what one or two guys do must represent the entire body of police). Much to my embarrassment I sound boarded it on CP. It can be easy to get all emotional about it, but, in truth, the fact remains, the proof is in the pudding, that not everyone on the force is corrupt or on a ego/racist rampage.
Valo403, who is a Lawyer in NYC if my memory is serving me well, said he believes half are decent guys and the other have a the High School bully DBags. (I'm paraphrasing or completely using different words to get to the same meaning) - Hey wait a sec... If Valo403 is a lawyer in NYC would that mean he knows Harvey Specter!
What caused this man to go all psycho does require a full outsourced federal investigation IMO.

If the LAPD were actually handling that situation properly, those officers would be criminally charged for those actions. Something tells me that won't happen.

Yeah, any time a man goes berserk and the government ends up killing him that should be investigated as thoroughly as possible. People are discussing what happened, but not why it happened. Things don't just happen for no reason
While a case could be made for excessive force in that video, she gets out of her car and it looks like she's pretty belligerent and actually gets out of her car and approaches the police which is a big no no. Then when they're trying to cuff her she's resisting, the standard protocal is to get the person on the ground and cuff them.
It looks like she was being a big moron, and then it was a matter of the cops being bigger and stronger.
there are probably better examples of brutality out there.

I don't agree with their use of force but when did people think it was a good idea to get out of their vehicle and confront a police officer?
She could have been ordered to get out of her car but how you can defend the cops actions no matter that detail, in these circumstances is mind blowing. These guys shouldn't be cops.

Did you not listen to her lawyer - she was wearing a sundress. Past that a blurry video camera of the incident in conjunction with the fact that she had some pretty minor injuries leads to think that this really isn't a case of police brutality... however the clip of Rodney King in the middle was pretty inspired on the part of the news.

Why is the clothing relevant here?
Rodney King was a special level of brutality and stupidity.
However in this day and age of video camera's and cell phone camera's pretty much everything looks brutal.

I think it's just the cop mentality in the states and it comes from being overprotective of themselves, which is understandable to a point, because of all the guns that are out there. One time I was down in Washington State and we weren't sure if we were going the right way and got out of my vehicle to ask a cop if he could help us (no GPS or cell phones with maps back then). Well as soon as I stepped out of the vehicle he jumps out, pulls his gun and says "Get the ###### back in your car or I will blow your head off". After I finished crapping myself I got back in my vehicle and he came up to my window and says "I don't know how you do it in Canada but never get out of your car and approach a police officer here". I thought it way overboard considering where we were and don't exactly know how else I would have got his attention for help. What if someone was hurt or dying?

Oh come on, you know full well what that bit about the clothing is for.
It's called "spin".
You're doing a pretty good job of it yourself. The suggestion that the blurry video doesn't show clearly enough that these two meatheads slammed a handcuffed woman into the ground is a perfect example. We can obviously all see that's what is happening in the video, but now, with a little bit of spin applied, some impressionable or stupid people might actually believe the video is not showing her getting slammed into the ground while she is handcuffed in the parking lot of the taco shop.
Her sundress is irrelevant, I agree there.
