Well, Obama supports same-sex marriages - Like a bigger shark eating a smaller fish, who cares about North Carolina now!

Well this thread certainly got derailed quickly by Mikey, who I gotta say is so adament against gay marriage I've concluded he must be a ridiculously large closet case. Generally speaking the more the person is against gay rights, the bigger the homo they are.

Study finds that homophobia linked to unacknowledged attraction to the same sex

If you take the bible as the literal word of God you can happily bugger yourself senseless as long as you don't lie down while you're doing it.
Absoloutly nothing in the bible forbids gay marraige incidently, the bible is only (arguably) concerned with sex acts, there would be absoloutly nothing wrong with two men getting married but living in abstinance.

Which is a good reason why Christians should support "civil union" rights for all at the very least.

You never know with these things.
Roe v Wade was in 1973 and there are still strong feelings on both sides of the issue.
I don't think the same-sex issue ever dies.

If Game of Thrones has taught us anything it's that if you are gay, even a King, a black smoke demon will inevitably kill you where you stand.

Someone at work today made the point that the redneck bible-belt of the U.S. could really bond with the Muslim community and come together over this issue.

It makes no difference. I'm pretty sure that evangelical pastors are very stongly in the same camp - anti-gay marriage. In fact, I'd say they are almost unanimously opposed to gay marriage. Their beliefs, while you disagree with them, don't make them more likely that the average man to be caught in a gay-sex situation (I was going to say "position" but situation is probably better) than any other man. In fact, I'd say they are far less likely to be doing that stuff. These are generally married me who do have a sexual outlet. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, just that it's very, very rare and to brand a whole group because of the actions of a few is unfair.

Wait, what does having a "sexual outlet" have to do with being straight or gay?
A gay pastor in a heterosexual marriage doesn't have a "sexual outlet" (or more than any other person has by themselves).

Well besides the study HPLovercraft quoted earlier in this thread confirming homophobes are often closet cases, here's a few US Politicians and a methhead who have been caught in gay sex acts/affairs, despite consistently voting against or being against gay rights
Mark Foley
Larry Craig
Bob Allen
Ted Haggard
And those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head in the last couple years.

Right now, 62% of the voting population of North Carolina does not understand freedom, and in fact made their own home less free.
