Anyone else getting a black screen with no video when trying to watch certain things?
Shows the show title in the top corner and has audio, but video signal is just black.
Worked fine last night but this is what I'm getting today.

Yup, and then if you wait a while sometimes it appears. Try stopping and rewinding a bit.

The holiday special will never see the light of day.
That whole Holiday Special fiasco is hilarious to this day. Its so become ingrained in the mythos of something so bad that actual attempts were made to completely eliminate all evidence of its existence.
The Cultural Phenomena of our times.

And every year it pops up and you have to watch the whole thing because its so bad that its brilliants
There so much just awesomeness if you watch it half loaded.
A obviously coked up Carrie Fisher putting lyrics to the Star Wars theme
Harrison Ford pretty much walking out halfway through
Mark wearing a ton of makeup to cover up the car accident that nearly killed him
Chewies, porn addicted grandfather
The first introduction of Bobba Fett.
Just a ton of outright weirdness.

That's no different than the warnings Warner Bros. put on the old Looney Tunes collections. That's a far better solution than to upload edited versions, or not upload them at all

They aren't editing beloved pieces of art, instead they're acknowledging the issues that are present based on historical stereotypes and changing social views.
Or did you think the article was about Disney apologizing for 2 different dog breeds kissing? Ha!

I think warnings are a good approach. That way if you're really sensitive about those things you can make an informed choice not to watch, while the rest of us can still enjoy the originals without having to deal with edited/censored versions. I'd have no sympathy for people who complained about cultural portrayals after being warned though.
Statement from Disney regarding the real controversy this week:
Quote:
We presented The Simpsons in 16:9 aspect ratio at launch in order to guarantee visual quality and consistency across all 30 seasons. Over time, Disney+ will roll out new features and additional viewing options. As part of this, in early 2020, Disney+ will make the first 19 seasons (and some episodes from Season 20) of The Simpsons available in their original 4:3 aspect ratio, giving subscribers a choice of how they prefer to view the popular series.

I totally forgot what the original Simpsons episodes were like. I started watching season one again today. Weird things like how Smithers had dark skin when he first appeared and Milhouse had black hair.
