Now i just wish PLD gets traded out east if the what is rumoured it will take. Don’t want it to be a western team or this conversation will never end and haunt us lol.

Centres are hard to find...but 22 year old RWs that can score 30 goals and it’s called a “bad season” don’t grow on trees.
I personally don’t think Dubois being a Center should make him more valuable than Laine in this situation.
1 for 1 would be a fair deal IMO, and if Roslovic is being added too then a piece will be going back to Columbus with Dubois.

I agree with you that Laine is (substantially) the better player right now. The positional favouritism for a big centerman has a lot of appeal though

According to multiple sources, the Winnipeg Jets’ package includes two players of their own who have requested trades — Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic (Roslovic, who is unsigned, is a Columbus native). Anaheim is believed to have significantly increased its offer. Calgary and Montreal are among the other interested parties, and there are undoubtedly more. (As I write this, it is not believed the Canadiens are willing to include Nick Suzuki, although what’s true now might not be true 10 minutes from now.)

Maybe PLD tells WPG no and WPG doesn’t pull the trigger for someone who doesn’t want to be there?
Maybe Monahan, Bennett and a draft pick could be a comparable package?

I don’t see Columbs pulling the trade with Winnipeg . Think it wold end with Lane demanding a trade by the end of the year.

PLD is at a similar level to Monahan today, but he is 22 with another RFA contract two years away. The control makes that swap a no brainer.
If the Flames have another poor playoffs they are going to end up trading Monahan and/or Gaudreau and they will never get a player of PLDs caliber.
If the trade is there, make it. Build the team around Lindholm, PLD, Tkachuk, and the up and commers on D. It extends the window, mixes things up in the short term, and reduces the pressure next summer with just one player to potentially trade.
I don't know what else it will take, but the Winnipeg deal is a bit overrated. Laine isn't going to fit well in Columbus, or with Torts. Monahan gives Columbus a similar player so they don't take a step back. Plus Calgary is adding so they also get that. It's a log shot, but I would take the swing.

Laine and Roslovic? Oh heavens what an overpay!
Monahan, Hanafin, Zary and a 1st? Hmmmm...might not be quite enough.
I personally am not seeing how Dubios is, or will be, substantially better than Monahan. He might be at some point, but even a simple check-in on career stats would serve a lot of people well. And an actual close, objective look at some of our players instead of latching to a narrative and repeating it endlessly.

In the end he’ll end up in Colorado or Vegas

Honestly I could see the organization feeling with the constant shuffling of Bennett for years that he just doesn't have a solidified place in the current group, and possibly being on the outs when it comes to protection with Mangi and Dube getting priority could seal him as a trade chip.

Twitter is dark and full of troll bait.
"@NHLFlams" the latest to report a Dubois acquisition.

Would prefer Johnny and Sam. Just my opinion.Though, BJs probably wants a high end center back.

PLD might be checked out right now under Torts. But he’s tenacious and has super star potential don’t get it twisted. If the Flames were able to obtain him it could be a game changer. I like Monahan but he’s too much of a muffin sometimes. Bringing in a guy who plays the game a little harder is exactly what we need for Playoffs.

Particularly if he's traded for 2 good players.
The value of Dubois pales in comparison to Roslovic + Laine currently, for example.
Dubois has to peak as a PPG 1C in a couple seasons to be worth more to a team.

I'm extremely apprehensive of acquiring a guy who at the tender age of 22 decided to spontaneously quit on his team, especially for such a steep price of a Monahan or Hanafin (or both).
Would gladly let Winnipeg or Montreal have him.
