The donation link doesn't seem to be working, I will start a thread on the Help/Suggestions subforum to get this to happen.
PS Dammit Treliving! Happy about the return he got for Glencross though.

Don't think we got BUF'S. Sounded like both were WSH picks.

FYI that no salary retained in Glencross trade to Washington

The higher return can easily be chalked up to the zaniness that is the trade deadline.

Far from it actually.
Yes i know what "this season" means as well but Glencross missed some of it with injury and clearly has been unhappy since he returned.
He is not a "floater" either...or MacLellan doesnt even look at the deal, nevermind surrendering 2 picks in the top 90 of a very deep draft.
Glencross has been a really good player a lot more than he has struggled over his whole career, hence the payment received.

I wouldn't mind this but I think MacT wanted a player coming back rather than a pick for Petry.

Putting the post in bold doesn't make the idea of trading decent assets for a pending UFA any wiser.

Honest question, in DC as part of this Eastern road trip for a stop over tonight and going to the Caps Leafs game, is he playing tonight?

Cant be that much owed to retain though really.
600K or so maybe?
I am still waiting for one of those deals though where Treliving takes on bad contract for another pick or another young player....because i dont think there are a lot of them to be had.

This is an example of great asset management.
Pick player up as a UFA.
Pay him nearly 13.8 million over 6 years.
Get 92 goals, 109 assists over that time.
Then trade him for a 2nd and 3rd in an upcoming deep draft.

Nobody will know until closer to game time, I would think.
I'll actually be seeing the Caps play in Montreal and Ottawa next month. Suddenly more interested in what they do.

Wow. Awesome return. I could live with just a third, I would be happy with just a 2nd, but we got both. 5 picks in the top 90 now. Our scouts must be stoked. Wonder if we make any more moves wether or not they will be selling moves or buying. I wouldnt be opposed to getting Stewart. Yes Ferland and Poirier have impressed but Id rather shelter them with a useful vet playing above them untill they earn that time.

Great return, IMO. Now let's give Backlund the A full time.

Yep, Washington are hoping they get the old glencross for 20 games, inspired by his pending free agency and desire to make some noise in the playoffs/win a cup.

I agree. However there are surprisingly more than a few people on here who feel that great asset management is either a 1st round pick or we're better off keeping him for another 30 days or so.

Haha, we may end up getting more out of this than the Iginla trade, especailly if Agostino never pans out. In a deep draft like this one those two picks may turn out to be better prospects than Klimchuk.

A lot of posters wanted Glencross gone for just about anything. I liked his play even this year. He played his role well as the first line LW and in the shutdown role on Monahan's line. The thing for me is that with the emergence of Bouma as the shut down guy who can also score a bit, Glencross isn't needed as much. We got a pretty good return so I'm happy.
