My daughter caught a Level 75 Kadabra last night. I think that's the rarest one we have.

This is BS. I have a pokestop in my building and I was standing literally beside it (it's a fountain) and it doesn't work.

I loved pokemon as a kid, instead of getting this game I just went to my parents house and snagged my gameboy color to start a new game in pokemon red.
It looks kinda fun but people wandering the streets staring at their phones in zombie mode is too much for me. I'm glad people are going outside I guess, although I feel like the definition "exercise" for most people should be more strenuous than slowly sauntering streets with your head down.

My boys and I walked at least 4 km last night together. The last time that happened was never.
Probably the novelty will wear off, but this was seriously good family time.
This will surely lead to similar and better games. What would we like to see?
Some kind of D&D game?

Playing in a small town is less fruitful for catching Pokemon. I'm looking forwarding to moving back to the city for the winter.
One benefit to small town playing is that gym rivalries are pretty intense, seeing as how you know the darn players who keep taking it from you. Haha either way I am loving this game.

Keep trying - that happens to me quite a bit. Or go away and come back in 30 minutes.

I'm sitting at my desk and there's a pokestop which reach...don't even have to move a muscle. This is too addicting.

I believe in the Jays.

Rarest one I've caught so far is an Abra. It's only level 25 though, so it's not very useful for battling. It's seems like it could take an extremely long time to evolve and level up these rarer types since they hardly ever come along.

K got it to work. I have some pokeballs.
Do you have to fight the pokemon to weaken it before you catch it like in the games?

Nope. Just hold down on the ball with your finger and flip it at the poke. Try to bonk them on the noggin, and the bigger the circle, the better (I think?)

Did pretty good yesterday. There is a poke stop in reach of my desk that people keep putting lures on.
Best so far:
214 raticate
141 pigeotto
111 eevee
104 Krabby
95 Venonat
52 Charmander
51 Ghastly

So do I need to have the phone in my hand, on, and the app open for it to register my walking?
I walked to work this morning with it in my pocket and it only registered ~500 m of the 2 km walk.

This will get much more fun once the tracking works again, the whole fun for me is filling out the pokedex
I'm a huge pokemon nerd, I have all 721 pokemon in the newest games
Anyone new to pokemon just getting into it now really should give the real games a try, they're some of the most addicting and enjoyable RPGs out there with endless replay value

Yes, which is by far my biggest issue with the game. Screen has to be on. It tracks via gps, I really hope they switch to step counters instead because I walk over 20k a day but I can barely hatch eggs unless I leave my phone on in my pocket

This essentially kills the game for me. I don't want to walk around holding my phone all day.

Do you then have to keep tapping the ball to capture the pokemon?
