Jack White concert at the Corral was other-worldy. But they were enforcing a "security-bag your cell phone" policy at the door, so I left my phone at home.
When the concert ended, game was long since over (at least, judging by the lack of traffic in the Stampede parking lot). I borrowed my sister's phone to check:
(a) The Flames' score
(b) The Stamps' score
What a great night!

Ridiculous shot by Tkachuk, loved the toe drag to change the angle and use the Dman as a screen:

People who’ve been saying Tkachuk is the future Captain of this team are right on. Look at his face immediately after the celebration. “Let’s not rub it in their faces too much”. In addition to his quietly massive talent, the kid is all business and mature way beyond his years.

I love this team so much, but I also love that we as a community have accepted Floss and that we enjoy the opinions of others as much as we do. Because Foss is an important part of our community.
That’s what makes CP so great

Flames dominated for most the game, but played a bit sloppy at times.
Lindholm could have scored like 4 goals on all his chances -- he's been the best player of the trade thus far.
It's great to see the top line clicking pretty much every game and creating so many chances. The Tkachuk line is also very good -- awesome snipe.
I think the scoring will slow down (overall in the NHL), but I think Mony is going to get 40-40 this year.
Edit: Oh yeah, this is the most I've been entertained since the cardiac kids back in 2014-2015.

Man, if Tkachuk can produce that type of shot with any sort of consistency he’s gonna be a superstar and I don’t throw that word around lightly. It’s crazy he’s still only 20 with the way he plays. So god damn impressive, the league will soon take note.

The league already takes note of Tkachuk. He's always in comparison to Marchand, and everyone knows he's earned his last name's stigma. He was raised to be a pro by a pro.

I just got back from a Night Shift but got to watch the game....
1. Flames Dominated Hawks all game long, every now and then you will get hemmed in your end, but all is good as they worked hard all game and worn down the Hawks like most teams they play now so come the third the ice is tilted.
2. Rittich played strong spite a light night. 1st Goal was a PP Goal and hard to stop as it was a quick deflection. 2nd Goal was a ref goal as there should have been a call against the hawks the same as Hamonic got called for which would have stopped the play. 3rd was not the best but he'll get him next time.
3. Paying Dome Customers got to cheer loud for the flames who are out working teams which is fantastic for them...
Hope Dube is not injured, but i don't believe Keith meant it and he stopped playing immediately after the hit... Dube turned at the last second which would have made that tough.
Win Win Win....

One thing for Duncan Keith as soon as he hit Dube he was leaning over him checking on him.
That was unfortunate, Dube turned to avoid the other Blackhawk bearing down and got crushed by Keith.
Crazy to see all those Flames high up in the pints totals and it’s mostly assists for everyone. Sharing the love!

Giordano has now been on ice for 31 of our 52 goals, currently leading the league in team GF and in TOI. Having a great (young!) forward core of Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm and Tkachuk is fantastic, but for me there's no argument who's the MVP of this team.
The captain leads.

Yea and to think after the Pittsburgh game there was a bunch of posters calling out his leadership ability. He's tough as nails, never stops working and leads by example. We are very fortunate to have him.

After going down 4-3 late in the third, the Hawks took about 4 shots from longer range, padding their shot total, but really just looking to sneak one in, and Rittich, and he didn’t look 100% comfortable as to where they were on his body.
Certinly didn’t look confident, lost the one puck that popped up in the air late in the first, and fortunate he didn’t slide too far out of the net and a Hawks player shot it into his pad. Toss in his terrible penalty too.
|
Had Smith taken that penalty, you better believe the wrath of CP would have been fast and furious.
I did notice at the end — Rittich was almost shaking his head like “thanks guys, you won this game not me”. Going forward I think both guys will need to keep pushing each other to be better — its too soon to write off Smith completely yet also premature to anoint Rittich as the number 1.

They're doing okay. For comparison, TB bottom six has 8 goals and Nashville has 9. Ours has scored 9.
Last season our bottom six had just 2 goals at this point. Or to put it another way: James Neal alone is currently outpacing our whole bottom six from last season.
