I would've been fine with a Borg-threat storyline if they hadn't just 'resolved' the entire Borg-threat literally in their own previous season. I know it was kind of a ####ty season but you can't have the Borg return and not have characters saying "Hey wait, what about the Dr. Jurati Borg Queen that we just hung out with like two months ago? Aren't the Borg in the Federation now?" -- is it even going to be addressed at all or is this a Rise of the Skywalker "Somehow, the regular evil Borg Queen returned" moment?
They had Shaw say that offhand line about the 'real' borg still being out there.
But I agree, it's like they draw the whole Borg storyline to an end, and were like, naw.

Thats the Finale that you predicted right there.
The Borg Queen +Jack having a raging catfight with the Jurati Borg Queen.
Thats the Finale. 48 minutes of that. And people saying 'Jack.'

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Nu Borg as a mind control virus for young adults just doesn't do it for me. that's so different from the scary hive mind with weird unbeatable ships and technology that it might as well be a totally different adversary all together.
my easy prediction for the finale is that Picard will reach out to Jack via their shared Borg sperm link and using the Power of Love he'll convince Jack to destroy the Queen and the whole network from the inside, likely sacrificing himself in the process. but then they'll probably have another one of those general use mouldable android bodies lying around that they can use to resurrect him.
Also, the whole Borg plot will get wrapped up in the first 20 minutes of the episode, so they can spend the rest of it with all the characters having a big tearful goodbye.

yea that would work against traditional borg but they're basically fighting Starfleet now. do these mind control drones even adapt? seemed like they were getting pelted on stun setting pretty reliably, no shield or other resistance developed during the shootout.

And why did they leave their 1 anti-borg specialist (7 of 9) behind in the Titan? Picard could have waited an extra 15 seconds to let her come into the room instead of wasting a minute holding Shaw's head.

Little known fact...the Borg Queen is actually 6 of 9. Oh yeah.

Because we needed to have the scene on the Enterprise-D of only the old crew back together. Would've been awkward to have one or both of 7 of 9 and Raffi there.
I'm sure this will also play in to how they ultimately win the day as the two of them will somehow do some sort of subterfuge to buy Picard some seconds, or something.

If Mirror Universe Ezre and Leeta want to "debrief" Raffi and 7, I'd be totally fine with that.

Alice Krige voiced the borg queen, so these are presumably the same borg from First Contact. But if I think too much about that I'll probably get a time travel paradox headache.

Yeah, AgnesBorg is the Anne (rip) from the alt timeline (not mirror universe)
This is the Alice/Susanna Thompson Borg from First Contant and Voyager

Ah that was her. She was sounding older.

Yeah. Voyager, a more advanced ship, with advanced borg technology. OR you know, they could take the ####ing defiant, a ship that was entirely designed to fight the borg... essentially specifically designed to be the opposite of ent D, which is too lumbering and cumbersome to fight a borg cube.
But, I think we will get Janeway and other friends of star trek past warping in in their old ships in the finale. It is the only way. At the beginning of the year I predicted exactly this, a mass warp in of all hero ships with original hero crews (a la Avengers:Eng Game). I wasn't sure at the time how they would achieve it, but all the pieces are now in place: current star fleet and new ships have been assimilated, only filthy oldies are unaffected, and we've been brought back to the place where our favourite ships are hanging out multiple times. Probably going to get a spock ghost flying the bounty.
Side note, but they are doing some SERIOUS hand waving on the borg biological assimilation to under 25s plot line. How does that work for other species? IIRC Bajoran childhood is only like 10 years or some #### (mentioned by Kira while preggers) and other species (like Vulcans) develop much more slowly than humans.

True - the way that is set up is dumb though.
They can't track their own shuttle through space? Cause he turned off the transponder? Shouldn't that be really difficult to achieve, like you actually have to go in the guts of the ship and physically remove it or something, not just a big button on the console that says "turn off transponder".
Also how many times in Star Trek are they tracking ships using their warp trails and warp signatures? Just do that. Follow lil' Jackie to the Borg cube with Voyager and blast her away.
Because we needed to have the scene on the Enterprise-D of only the old crew back together. Would've been awkward to have one or both of 7 of 9 and Raffi there.

That could have actually been hilarious.
Just like skulking around by the turbolift awkwardly, not knowing what to do? Pushing random buttons because they dont know how anything works? There could have been a lot of comedy gold in there!
Like teenagers trying to operate a rotary telephone or....

Could you imagine if the Next Gen crew go back to Earth to fight the Borg and immediately get annihilated in a blaze of glory? And then credits....
Not like a long, protracted, drawn out fight where they each get a valiant death sequence and sacrifice themselves for the Federation.
Just warp into Sol...*pew-pew...pew-pew-pew*
"Welp. Thats them done. Lets go, wez gots assimilatin' to do!"
Credits.
Nobody would see it coming.
